While I was home in PA I went to a Sephora to ask for some makeup advice.It didn't really go how I thought it would lol

Sephora ladies are so awesome there!
When I walk into Sephora with a friend or even alone, they look as if we've came to steal. They have suspicious looks and if the store is bigger some ladies even follow clients around to be sure they don't fill their pockets with anything. I hate that store so much, makes me feel unwelcome every time.

This is better than the time I almost got into a huge argument with the MAC lady over what shades actually go with my skin tone. Coral pink does NOT work with pale and sallow skin, I know because I've tried it on my own damn face! ALSO DO NOT PUT BLUE EYESHADOW ON ME I HAVE GREEN EYES AND YOU ARE MAKING ME LOOK LIKE A PROSTITUTE.

You're lucky to even have a Sephora! Apparently they have this really good skin stuff that my doctor says I need but there aren't any here in UT. ;_; But yeah, my neighbor sells that "Mary Kay" stuff and my mom wanted my sister and I to get a makeover but it turns out we spent $300 on stuff I'm allergic to.

The people at MAC and Sephora are not trained--they just enjoy playing with makeup, and that's why they're hired. The best thing you can do to learn about makeup, is just to do it. Same as with art, really, the more you use it, the better you know how fast the product dries, or how it spreads, or how far you can push it, etc. Then you can do anything!

That's so funny! I love the makeup girl's enthusiasm. I've never had the courage to go up and do a makeup consultation... always been scared they'd either make me look like Amy Winehouse, or take one look at me and say, "sorry lady, but there's nothing I can do to help..."

I love Sephora, but I don't let anyone 'consult' me with makeup. I was in Philly with my ex-boyfriend about two winters ago, playing with the bright eyeshadows, and I overheard a woman asking an employee about makeup advice. My ex liked makeup himself (musician/performer, guess it came with the territory) so it wasn't surprising when the employee actually directed the woman in our direction. Ironically, the woman's question was quite simple. Just wanted to know which eyeliner would look better on her, brown or coal black. Random.
Personally, I love the extreme amounts of green eyeshadow shown here, but I'm also a nutter for green and love ridiculous eyeshadow application. XD

haha yeah i gotta say, in person it was really pretty what she did. but WAY WAAAAAY too much for the "every day look" i asked her about haha. i was too embarassed to leave the store and had to wash it off i felt so mean lol

The sad part about some consultants in makeup shops is they think the one style, usually quite outrageous, works for everyone, regardless of the time of day. The phrase "No one wears that color in the morning!" comes to mind. XD

she's also a teacher and painter though, and she, luckily, doesn't go around like that ahaha
I never use makeup myself, and my mom hardly puts on any, she really just does it because of the social aspect I think- she's made a lot of friends that way, not to mention it helps make extra cash haha.
but yeah this is funny, cause some people that I've met that also do Mary Kay are like that, and it annoys the hell out of me.
