also also my dad walked past when i was drawing baby hero and he was immediately like "he needs an iCE CREAM" so

from the tiny, TINY smile hero has in the last pannel....i think he's really glad he has steve to help him through everything. having a friend like that who just understands and sticks with you even if you get mad at them/hurt them/whatever is one of the best things in the world.

Aww, how sweet! It's nice to see Hero starting to open up and be more comfortable around others, or at least, accept other emotions than bitterness and anger. Steve is a great influence on him, I'm glad that they have each other. The small smile and magenta eyes on the last panel is a great touch-- he's turned away from Steve, but he's more content, happy, even, to have understanding company. I love that.

I keep thinking back to this MAP I watched for a book series, The series was called Warrior Cats and the song was I'm Not Ready
Or 'The Weight of Us' byΒ Sanders Bohlke.
For some odd reason the song puts me in mindΒ ofΒ Hero's life. The chores talks about how one isn't ready for the weight of the world itself and by the end he realizesΒ that there is a time to be brave and you'll know when it comes.Β
IDK why, but this flashback put me in mind of it. Mostly when Notch turned and smiled at Hero when he first met him.

I just noticed that the outer colors of Hero's eyes change with each emotion or feeling, magenta seems to be happiness a red-pink color seems be agitation, and ice blue for surprise.

This is precious. From the changing of the glowing eyes, Hero's smile, to the tiny Hero child, to ICE CREAM, and to the mini talk about Steve telling Hero he's allowed to be vulnerable (Which is a bullseye to the heart for me), this is just precious.

Baby Hero! He's so cute! And oh my god he did need that ice cream. Absolute cutie. Squishy baby.
Notch's nervousness in the 4th panel is portrayed really well? Although when you think about that line "I didn't know I had another brother!" and compare it to that, it's understandable and... kinda sad. And Notch's smile in that 6th panel? It's actually soft? And kinda sweet? Wow, I didn't know Notch could do that.
!!! Hero's! Smile! And! Purple! Eyes! Such a wonderful expression to see on him after he's spent most of this comic angry. Stevie's right, it is cute.
And those last two panels? Steve telling Hero he doesn't need to hide his smile? Steve comforting Hero??Β Steve telling him that he's allowed to be vulnerable and Hero actually looking content?!?
That last line especially. "You're allowed to be vulnerable" just... it holds so much emotion, and just stands out to me as a line. It's almost a comfort to hear it, actually.
All in all, wonderful page. I'm filled with such happy feelings.Β
