Description  The once-famous soothsayer, reader of the runes and simply, as he was often called, the sorcerer Ezra Hattori has lost favor with a young and very swashbuckling prince. He was responsible for prediction whose he made - looking at the future of the young prince, the prophet saw that there wasn't so much left time for the young man, and his death would be terrible. But hothead prince wasn't happy with such news, and in a fit of anger he began to beat the soothsayer. Beaten half to death, Ezra was thrown out into the street and possibly would have died if it weren’t for the good people who saved him. As a result of the beatings, the soothsayer lost the ability to see, and he could hardly speak.
Not wishing to put up with an ailment that limits the possibilities, Ezra decided to take radical measures. With the help of the people who saved him, he performed a magic ritual - the so-called "cutting of space", or, if simpler, he opened a portal to another dimension. Sitting at the portal and straining all his psi abilities, Ezra lured the so-called Enslaver to himself. The Enslavers are very sensitive to psi-abilities, so the one who felt tentacles with lamprey mouths at their head on undoubtedly became the puppet of these monsters. But master Hattori would not have been himself if he had given a  monster not from this world to enslave himself. As soon as the tentacle of the Enslaver touched the head of the prophet, a connection was instantly established between him and the monster, and Ezra first broke the mind of the Enslaver, and then established complete control over him. Now Ezra could use the eye of the Enslaver, not only to see the world around him, but also to look into other spaces and dimensions, and the mouths of lampreys on the tentacles relayed his broken voice.
For ordinary people, the Ezra's Enslaver is invisible, or they only see a haze behind the prophet’s back, which looks like hot air emanating from something invisible.

How the Enslaver Bob got his name

       - Dad, look! behind that mister, with a cane, flies the  eye, with tentacles, same as eye what flies behind me, it’s the same as my Eye-Bob!
       - Oh dear, just don’t start it again! If you have imaginary friends, especially such vile ones, this doesn't mean that others have them.
       - But, daddy! He's exactly the same as my Eye Bob. Hey, mister! Hey! I see your big-eyed  friend! Tell my dad you see him too.

I always liked this kind of creatures, and it doesn’t matter which universe they are from - Heroes of Might & Magic, Nox, King's Bounty or Magika (I definitely forgot something else), but in general, beholders influenced what my Enslaver Bob looks like. So you're right, there's a little bit of HoMM3 here

Thank you for comment)

At first sight, you'd think the creature is like 'milking' or 'sucking' the old man's thoughts, controling him.

That is until you find out through the lore it's actually the other way around. The man has transformed the creature into an extension of his own self
