Description
Okay, it's very improvable, but I preferred to stop working on it before committing disaster on it.The face was made with greasy chalks, the rest was done in acrylic.
I tried the colored pencils and the wood pencil for the hair.
I love her sweet look. My daughters followed the project a lot and encouraged me to continue.
Thank you also to my wife, surprised to see what can be done with little material.
And thanks, thanks to you who look at me and encourage me!Β
What do you think of this portrait of Elsa ?

To tell you the truth, I don't like Frozen that much, but WOW this is definitely your best painting so far!
Where do I start?... you made the face proportions very well, specially the eyes, and the hair looks very realistic you also made a very realistic effect on her skin, with both shadows and lights, I don't know what greasy chalks are, I use pastel chalks, they are... how could I describe them?... "dusty"???
well, the thing is that I don't know them, but chalks are the best thing there are to make shadows and lights, the result can be very realistic
And also the background with acrylic paint looks elegant and complements the character very well

Oh, yes !! No "greasy chalks" but "soft pastel chalks"; brand "Rembrandt".
- carmin (very sensual pink)
- light oxide red
- gold ochre
- permanent rose
(yes, they're "dusty".)Β
And i blur them with my finger, when it overflows, i don't mind because i can paint above
with the acrylic.
But, but... the final touch is the spray of fixative, which gives a brilliant effect and don't let
the layers of pastel moving.
Thank you a lot, i'm not satisfied, the mouth is not well placed, the hair could be better
the nose... but it was a real pleasure to paint, it was as if i was in front of her.
Thank you very much for your comment,Β Β

I see, I don't know them, but they sound similar to the ones I use, I use a brand called "Stafford"
I use the same technique, I also combine acrilic paint and pastel chalks, and add a layer of fixative at the end
You are very, very welcome

Afterwatching a youtube video, in which are 5 stages of drawing explained, I tend to accept that even drawing more and more details onto an artwork helps me.
It might not look pleasing for the eye, but it definitely helps to understand how shadows, wrinkles and hair works.
I think you could improve a ot from just letting your hand/brain/eye adding more and more information to your artworks.
EnjoyΒ drawing, I want to say Looks great!

So you think that i need to imput more information. I agree. But i experienced a strange fact.
If you look in my gallery, you'll find "Poinsettia's study" 1 and two. They're interesting, because when i wanted to give more information, i obtained... an sort of monkey, something very awful, and that's the video says : it takes ages to place well the information. But anyway, the video is very interesting, it's the kind of video where you come back, where you have to experience the states...
It's a video which asks the good question : how putting accurately informations ?
Very precious.
It puts a new basis : don't draw ALREADY, just PUT INFORMATIONS.
Sorry for the late answer, but i didn't want to reply before having thought about the benefit of this video. I understand why it's so important for you.
I repeat : thank you very much for your advice.
Greetings.Β

Thank you for inviting me to progress in this adventure !
I think i'll try to mix the colours with just a drop of oil.
And i'll make essays with a white piece of chalk...
And the hair have to be improved, as i said to silvermist999...
Thank you so much for your comment !

Thank you so much !
That's because of you and all who encourage me !

The hair is very difficult to do, pencil is necessary.
I'll try others testings with 'dry' matter (acrylic) and hards brush to give hair effect
And i have to masterize the colours to give volume to the head.
I've bought a set of greasy chalks and i use fixative at the end. It gives a nice shiny effect !
The basic color is pink 'carmin' : very sensual color.
Thank you again for your comment. I've learned a lot too !Β
