Description
On December 21, 1989, Captain Mark Bannon of the United States Army sacrificed himself and his company in the defense of Cascade Falls, Washington, holding a numerically superior Soviet force in place to allow the success of a nuclear strike on his own position. His death and the destruction of the Soviet forces secured the secret of the true nature of the US Strategic Defense Initiative and provided an impetus for the US to begin driving the Soviets out of the United States, eventually encircling them at their beachhead in Seattle and annihilating them.

His sacrifice will never be forgotten.
