Description
Watching from the upper concourse of the South Pier-A, the USS Corsica can be seen arriving at the pier's central inner dock, with a fantastic view of the East and North pier-arch superstructures just beyond.

Similar to the view down upon the parked Corsica from the Observation Lounge, this was just a fun experiment involving background composition. I began by rendering the central axis sections (upper command hub & lower fueling ring) along with a single combined set of the pier, arch, and pylon structures. Then, using that resulting image as a background, I rotated the entire model 90 degrees clockwise and went for the next render attempt. That procedure required 4 renders total, but took less time to load, set up, and render than using the entire completed station for one pass.

Given the stark lighting conditions, I wasn't too concerned about inaccuracies regarding global illumination issues, and the final composite required very little touch up, though I did cheat a little by removing a large shadow across the upper half of the ship, which I thought hindered the overall composition. I also opted to leave out any contextual window frames from an otherwise implied interior perspective.
