Her second invitation to the James Street Gym, Sabine is getting primed for her second round match in the 2023 JSG Invitational. The second round was where she was eliminated the previous year, and it's where the woman who beat her has been let off this year.

Those are the breaks, she reasons, random assignments and developments mostly beyond control... despite what could have been seen as a shot at redemption for Pantera against Anaconda. Perhaps a longshot given the separation of their brackets.

Vitali has learned and impressed upon others the value of short-term goals, the cold logic behind time-bound and measurable expectations. But she'd be loathe to admit to them that her Italian temper may be getting the better of her, having tasked herself a short-term goal within the tournament: beat an Alley Cat in the third round.

Because Isa Armstrong wasn't the only one to knock Sabine out of an invitational, and the Milanese's proximity to this "goal" just got a lot closer with Liz Claw's win over Nikki Martin.

However, like Armstrong-Vitali II, that doesn't happen if Sabine doesn't get past round two.
