Description While this isn't a huge milestone or anything, for me getting to this serial and this number means how committed I am to the on-going future of this project and the amount of work (simple as it is) involved with making this project a success.

The completion of this piece also marks 300 DA pieces submitted. Again not a huge milestone, but personally it does show how much of a driver I am in regards to the work I do.

Now, when I started this project, there was a number of stories I couldn't wait to get to, just to do representations of. Pyramids of Mars was extremely high on that list. Tom's third serial in his second season, it was a game-changer: it marked the introduction of a new costume (the famous velvet frock coat) and also showed the clearest example of the horror elements so often seen in the Hinchcliffe era. Lis Sladen was probably at her best as Sarah Jane at this point, where she seems much more attuned to Tom than the previous season. Look for the scene in Part 4, where the Doctor and Sarah Jane turn right back around after seeing a Mummy robot (the source of the "nope.jpg" gif). The beginning of Part One also sees one of the best improv moments at the time, where the Doctor is waxing poetic about being a Time Lord and Sarah Jane laughingly mocks him ("Oh I know you're a Time Lord").

Sutekh is one of those great one-time villains who's ending makes it difficult for a return appearance. Its probably just as well, I couldn't see how it would be possible to make a return of Sutekh. Gabriel Woolfe is still alive and could, if the story was proper, return to the part, but again the logistics of how Sutekh was dispatched makes that near impossible. I'd love to see an audio story pairing him with the Eighth Doctor, just because it seems like it would be a good fight if Sutekh were to somehow use his personal artifacts to reach through the dimensions back into our world and time.

"Pyramids of Mars" isn't perfect. It is, like so many Doctor Who stories, near-flawless. But if there had to be a shortlist of stories to introduce someone to the show, this would be at or near the top.

Thank you!

That was such a nightmare to get right, because without the glow there this would have been such a boring image.

Wonderful work! You can relive all the terror of Sutekh by listening to the BBV audio dramas for Faction Paradox. Gabriel Wolfe sounds just as menacing as Sutekh in these as he did in Pyramids of Mars. The story is set before POM so Sutekh is an all powerful and nasty character.  Try www.radiodramarevival.com/fact…  for more info.
Good luck with your project, keep up the great work.

How do you do the backgrounds of your pieces by the way?

Thank you! I hope to hit 400 next year

There's two ways I do my backgrounds: the old way for a long time was using poster board, either the Tri-Fold ones from Elmer's or the big sheets turn on the sides and clamped against something for stability. The other way I do it and have been recently is the use of a photography lightbox for product photographs. Mines a little smaller than most so I have to get in closer to not have the sides show up. But that's a small concession so things can look nice

Awesome You appear to have a lot more photography equipment than me lol all I really have is my camera. I put up a journal about a 'portrait participation' thing for my project lol.

I just accumulated it all over time. Right now I've got my two Nikons, the D40 and D3100, and four lenses, probably too much if all I ever shoot is my toys but I like to have my arsenal at the ready should I do things like weddings and concerts

I'm gonna participate in your Portrait project, seems like a lot of fun!

I have a Pentax K-r. Toys seem like so much fun to photograph, I have an Iron Man figure that I should do some shoots with and once I finally get some Who figures I'll do some shoots with them!

Yay! Thank you!
