Description
So at this point its a safe bet that (presumably will be) the lone feature-length big screen outing for this iteration of the Scarlet Speedster will be a dud, which is unfortunate because there are some things that work for it, some things that don't, and other things that could've been handled a little better. One of the positives is that I did think director Andy Muschietti did what he could to make sense of what would've been a difficult story to juggle under normal circumstances but maybe because of James Gunn or maybe because something happened during the reshoot phase but this actually did feel a lot more like what the DCEU should've been from the jump, but it still had ways to go to get where I would've liked it to be (the light, fun humor of the MCU, to be more specific). That being said, I did like the movie but I kept seeing iterations of the poster floating around and I figured that I wanted to do my own take on it, and much like a lot of my work, I wanted to incorporate the Adam West Batman. But that also led to a problem because the nearest Supergirl to West's era would've been Helen Slater, and of course we've yet to get a figure of her (and because I wanted to shoot this asap, I couldn't find any generic blonde head to schlep onto a Supergirl body that would've looked good) but had I been able to, the specific Flash would've been John Wesley Shipp and I would've probably used the Bat-Copter Hot Wheels toy in lieu of the Batwing. No worries, so while I had to slip back into the comics, I decided to get a little funkier with things. Now, the movie is indeed a rough adaptation of Flashpoint, but I went a step further by having it be something like an Earth-2 tale, an amalgam of Flashpoint with the events of Flash #123 and just imagined it as the Flash discovering Earth-2 for the first time and finding out this earth has a Batman that can help him, only discover this is different from the Batman he knows and along with that, Superman has gone missing...which means my Supergirl problem was solved with having her be replaced by Power Girl in this hypothetical scenario. And on a technical aspect, so was my desire for Adam West Batman fulfilled since the Golden Age Batman is essentially the template that inspired the '66 Batman TV series.
I've been away for awhile I know, but it's not like I haven't been working and shooting stuff hehehe. This was a little more extensive on the editing side than I usually do, as I try and do things a little more tangibly, but given the way the poster for the movie is, there weren't many ways I could've sidestepped that.
