Description
I get asked a lot how the balls on a ball-jointed doll are shaped. Here's the explanation.I realize this is a very simplistic drawing, but it's very helpful.

Thanks I found them, another question, what kind of colors do you use?
I have used acrylics to my former dolls and as I saw its not really a good idea. Isnt there some colors that dries with a heatgun/hair dryer?

to paint the face? You can use acrylics on the resin, it won't hurt it. I use pastels and acrylics on the face-ups of the resin dolls. I don't paint my paperclay at all tho.

Beacuse uhm I use acrylics on super sculpey. Any advice on some other color that is better suited?

acrylics should be fine on super sculpey as far as I know... i've always used them. Sometimes they don't stick so you have to take some rubbing alcohol and run it over the super sculpey first.
You could try using ground up pastels. You need to spray the doll with some kind of matte sealer like Mr. Super Clear or Testor's Matte before and after you apply the pastels.

thanks! can you tell me the bit of difference in this process -> [link] and yours?
and i was wondering... should i cut along the three holes? if so, how can i put the string through the joint?

I'm not really sure i can explain it... i was originally using wooden balls to make the joints since styrofoam balls like Noah uses aren't easy to find in the states.
You can pull the string through the joint with a bit of wire and some thin ribbon. try looking up doll stringing vids on youtube, that might give you a better idea. :3

This is helpful, the joints in my doll are weird, and I am working on making a tail for her so it's nice to see how more normal joints look.

XD Nice, don't you love how you never find what you're looking for, but what you didn't need in the first place? And thanks, it helps a bit. Still no info on rotating thigh pieces... ah well, I'm not even there yet anyway XD Thanks so much, though!
