Description
Messing around in Maya with shaders and lighting. Pretty basic model, but he's messier than I'd like. Also the hands. I imported them from an old Max file, so they don't render correctly. HARUMPH.Related content

thanks! I exported the Max stuff via FBX or OBJ format. Since zbrush reads OBJ and Unity reads FBX most programs will export models that way now and both programs will read the files. It doesn't always come across smoothly. sometimes it unwelds all the verts. *headdesk*

The lighting and shading aren't bad--the midsection is a nice mix of darks and light. The background makes it hard to see detail on the head, but I see enough detail to know the optics are reflecting off the helm.
Now, will this eventually become an animated piece?

Nah, I can just baaaarely rig. I've got no idea how to animate. Hell, I can just barely fix up lights. XD I'm an environment modeler most of the time. Most of what I do for work is make textures and models that go directly into the game environment- so rendering and using shaders and lights in Maya is still really new to me.
His head needs to be completely remodeled, so there isn't too much to see. It's a really, really old model from 2006? or so. If you dig through my gallery you'll see it.
