Problem Solved
It sounds funny because the God debate is often portrayed as such a profound and insoluble riddle. But if you actually do Google it, you’ll find plenty of articles about untestable hypotheses, anecdotal evidence, Ockham’s Razor, and other useful info about how to evaluate claims, as well as info about evolution, cosmology, particle physics, and other relevant subjects. (I’ve even written a few myself.) Sure, you’ll also find websites like Answers in Genesis, but if you read everything that’s available, you’ll understand why it’s not called Correct Answers in Genesis.
So if anybody asks you why it’s irrational to believe in God, you can just tell them to Google it. And if they accuse you of naively oversimplifying a complex issue, just direct them here.
Examples of useful info that can be found by anyone who is genuinely inquisitive:

So, it's acceptable for someone to post "God is love" or "God exists!" but the opposing opinion cannot be voiced?

I see your point and it's a good one. But Google isn't always right. That's the part that just seems REALLY stupid to me.

I think that part was supposed to be a bit humorous. Yes serious in the sense that they found many resources to back their argument, but also playing on the fact that you can virtually Google anything now.

I guess that's true but the internet is not always the best place to get facts. Especialy stuff like this.

I'll disagree, respectfully, here. I find, as a college student, that the internet can be a wonderful place for sources (within reason).
As for the actual God vs. No God thing, I personally think that if one side can pull sources from the internet and claim them as valid, then the other can too. Both sides have done it, as they should, to further their opinions.

I never said the Internet is always wrong. I said sometimes. You have to admit that's sort of true.

Oh, no, I agree that it's not always right (as demonstrated by stating "within reason" in parentheses). It comes down to the individual's perspective to determine which is right and which is wrong in many cases.

I don't know if I believe in God, but honestly, how dare you try to take away something as helpful as religion to people who really need it?

They're not trying to "take away" religion. It's merely voicing a viewpoint.

Fair enough, but their whole viewpoint is "I'm right and you're wrong". That's pretty rude if you ask me. Religion isn't stupid.

You're taking this entire picture too seriously. The description even says "for more religious humor, click here" with a bunch of links to other religious things. This picture is, for the most part, a joke. Nonetheless, it is still stating a viewpoint. It's the same thing as a Christian saying, "God exists, it's true, I Googled it!" Yet, nobody would throw as much of a hissy fit, and that's probably why the creator made it.
However, I am fairly certain that the author is not trying to "take away religion".

Actually, I would be throwing just as much of a hissy fit if somebody did the opposite. I'm not even christian. You know there are other religions that believe in God, right?

mewnique In reply to amh97 [2012-06-09 17:46:11 +0000 UTC]
What I meant with that statement was that many people (not you exclusively) can dish it out, but cannot take it. I don't even approve of the way the author worded their opinion, and I'm an Atheist. I think the mindset "I'm right, you're wrong" is an awful way to look at the world, because it prevents people from really seeing that they can't be right all the time.
Yes, I'm aware of other religions that believe in God.

Why would you ever say something like this? How do you think you got onto this Earth and all those miracles happened? Who do you think wrote all those stories in the bible? Who do you think saved us from sin?

h-irsch In reply to damonsgirl26 [2012-06-09 17:42:41 +0000 UTC]
How did I get on Earth? I evolved from another species on the planet.
All those miracles? They're not miracles. It's just nature.
Man wrote the Bible. You really think God wrote the Bible? Have you researched your own religion?
What is sin? Something bad we've done in life. What can we do about it? Say we're sorry to the person and hope the good things we do in life out ways the bad things. We don't just sit there and pray God will forgive us.

No. Jesus is God and Jesus is human and Jesus had Apostles and they were there and watched Jesus throughout His life and watched all the miracles and what He did for us.
You can have your beliefs and I will have mine but i will pray for you all.

They have as much right to voice their opinion as you do, you know.
And humans wrote the Bible, not God himself. That's why it's filled with so many contradictions, in my opinion.

PEOPLE wrote the Bible, there's no doubt about that. It was written to control people, to scare them into thinking that they were going to a place of eternal torture unless they obeyed God, just because a few guys that wanted power said so. I am on this Earth because of my parents, but I don't know about you. The Bible isn't a good source of the actual origins of the universe, it's a storybook. Many of the stories have many logical, historical, and scientific inconsistencies.
