Salt and SlugAre in love
Salt and Slug...
One's Sodium Chloride
The others a grub
Salt and Slug...
Way back when Cartoon Network didn't suck so much, they did these shorts called "Cartoons that never made it" featuring obvious flop ideas, like Rupert the dancing Grouper(Who dies shortly after leaving his fishbowl), Frothy Dog(A happy little rabid mutt.), and Hiedy and the Yodelers(A group of swiss mystery-solving musicians who drive around in a large wedge of cheese.)
My favorite of these was Salt and Slug- a container of table salt and a slug who were in love with eachother, until Salt accidentally spilled on Slug turning her into a charred little puddle on the ground... but his magical tears of sorrow somehow revived her. I even came up with some ideas for episodes with them. SERIOUSLY. I loved this idea.

Awww, man, I hate remembering all teh cool stuff that used to come on. Makes everything today on TV look so useless. Where's the fun? Where's the random? Where's the afternoon lineup?!?
Nice one, Batty, nice one... *sobs*

Heheheh, you're quite welcome. I've been on a search of classic cartoons as of late, and I managed to come across those clips.
Personally, my favorite has always been the Cartoon Network Rap.
But, yeah, you're quite welcome, my friend.

Boo Boo Bah Bah Dee Dee?
I loved that one too. Much better then Cartoon Networks current collection of "Yes" commercials.

Heheh, I just now remembered "Boo Boo Bah Bah Dee Dee." I was actually talking about an old rap that used to play before that one came out.

THIS is one of my most favorite promos on all of Cartoon Network; the link only shows the short version of the whole rap (yes, it was longer than what you see), but it's still very cool.

Yup. I remember it, though, and a slew of other animated goodness out there; nostalgia overcomes me as I see all of this, and I also feel that, even though I'm only 21, I'm getting old.
^_^
You know, maybe we should start talking more often, like on AOL Instant Messanger (as I do with DuoMan) or over the phone (as I do with Lucky)...unless we can come up with a new method.

Well, when you consider the ideas that DID make it ... Super Duper Sumos? What pothead green-lighted THAT idea?!?
But yeah, "Salt and Slug" was a neat idea. With slightly higher production values, that promo could have given the Care Bears a run for their money.
Though my all-time favorite Cartoon Network filler was the Josey and The Pussycats short that showed them evolving through being disco divas, punk grrrls, and glam stadium rockers. And also the Shonen Knive video to "Buttercup (I'm A Supergirl)."
Memory ... the curse of the middle-aged.

Ah, now if that doesn't take me back. Oh how I loved the dark turn it took. It had the best theme, with the Barry White frog saying something like "Isn't it just sweet when a can of salt and a garden grub can find love?"
