Description It was a stormy day and i was stunned by the sky that i just started shooting. I was lucky enough to capture this lightning and was extremely thrilled about it at the moment but when i did the "developing" it turned out less than i expected.

This is a super cool shot, I've tried shooting lightning many times with no success, I am always pointing my camera at the wrong place at the wrong time. Good work.

Usualy the way to catch lightning is with prolongued exposition (15 s). In this case i was either blind lucky or lightning fast in depressing the shutter. Anyway, i dont think i will ever catch a lightning at 1/60 again.

Wow this is so cool! I've always wanted to capture Lighting on film but I must admit I'm sorta afraid of it So you are very brave! I love the colouring of this shot! Well done!

I love lightning and storms and rain. I love the sound of rain falling. Lightning storms honestly give me a bit of an adrenaline rush and this particular one with such an unusual sky was just very enebriating. I dont take chances of course and would never in a million year like to be close to where a lightning falls but i still love them.

Just be careful *hehe* and I agree with you there, the lightning does give me a rush.. but around here in Mississippi we get a lot of tornado warnings/watches along with lightning so I think maybe it gives me a different kind of rush *LoL* rush for cover that is But the sound of Rain and thunder puts me to sleep because it's so peaceful!

I guess for you that means some real danger so its not that much fun. Here the biggest problems we have is when a river floods and even then noone realy dies or anything.

I love storms and i love rain but the ones good for shooting dont come arround too often. sniff.

I like the sideways effect that you added to the picture...but i think that the scenery is such that it would have done it more (or is it better) justice to just make it normally. That is just my 2cents though, but i cant deny the beauty of what you have captured. nice job.

Well, i don't know normaly but i do think i exagerated on the tilted prespective regarding this shot. I would indeed probably look nicer if it wasnt so tilted. Thanks for your comment.

id like to point out that most lighting photography is long exposures ... of 30 seconds plus from what i hear so being able to capture it at 1/60th is a feat worth praising

Thx.
Its true that most lightning photography involves long exposure but also produces spectacular effects such as whole inverted trees of lightning branching towards the earth. Oh well, one day.

amazing... thats such a lucky shot... it is so hard to get lightning clearly awsome work!! i love the purple hue of it

bawarman In reply to Passiondancer [2004-05-23 00:06:29 +0000 UTC]

Its easy at night because you just put it in long exposure and get lovely lightnings but during daylight...
I was waiting for it but i must admit it was very lucky to be able to snap it in time. My flatmate for instants was less successful.
The purple hue isnt added its realy the color of the sky accentuated by the low light conditions.
Anyway, i was a little disapointed when i saw it in the computer but hey, thx for the lovely comment.
