It's really beautiful, especially the closing clasps! I wish it was bigger than 6x9...it's so much harder to find journals like this that are big.

The leather is fairly thin. I shave it down to properly accommodate the book.

Interesting - I've been working with 1.5mm thick leather, and I think it's really too thick - I have to pare the edges for hours to get it thin enough (and paring knives are murder on the fingers... gives me blisters sometimes!)

I have my paring knives so sharp that it shaves through like butter. I also have a rhythm and style of holding the leather and knife so that the process goes rather quickly. The wonderful thing about leather is that the thickness can be exploited within certain areas of the book. Like sculpting.
