Im afraid it cannot be...
Tadao Nagahama created the Super Robot Romance Trillogy (Combattler V, Daimos and Voltes V)

I treat these three super robots like "brother's in arms"

In my fan fiction, (The Godaikin Wars) Voltron Lion Force, supported by the imperialistic Galaxy Alliance was chalenged both by Daimos, Voltes V and Combattler V. (You could just imagine Voltron being pulverized by Daimos in his ala-Bruce Lee kicks!)

Oh ok Daimos is cool. But I confused at that part why would good guys fight with each other? This is just a crazy thing in anime robot cartoons are common and the way I see it is new cartoons I think pay homage to the past to let them know that they are continuing what they started.Daimos to me is a mix between Lion Voltron and the Vehicel Voltron.

Daimos is a Henkei robot...Voltron (or Golion) or what ever is a gattai robot
how can possibly Daimos a combination of the two voltrons?

You know what I'm done I like them both ok.The way the outfit is and the way he goes to the cockpit. And both Daimos and Dairugger looks alike. But I'm sure your going to find some way to prove me wrong.

Look, I'm a little hectic today for a Voltron discussion (I thought I'm done with this by telling you All super robots are great just dont "force feed" me about Voltron Lion)

Like I said, dairruger XV is a Gattai and Daimos is Henkei...It's good for you if you liked Daimos...I like Daimos too, but I hate the story plot.

Right now, I'm working on some "digital" comics so I'm burning my brains just to make it right.
My "hate" of Voltron Lion Force boils down just mere fan fight...It had something very personal.

So I can't just answer you inquiries...suffice to say that we can be pals but skip the Voltorn lion thing....K?

Speaking of super robots, I have a large collection of Godaikin Super Robots (Voltes V's on the highest pedestal of course).

I had about 15 super robot metal replicas, these were very old (1985 up to 1998)
Chodenji Voltes V (Volets Five), Chodenji Combattler V (Combattler Vee), Otori Jima Camp Big Falcon (Voltes V's falcon-like defense fortress)Daltanias (The first true giant robot with a lion mecha component and a literral "Blazing Sword") Datetsujin 17, Toushou Daimos, Bioman, Daidenjin, Laser Robo Laserion, God sigma, God Marz, Dan Cougar, Golion, Dynaman and Goggle V.

I keep these stuff boxed...Very old lead becomes brittle to the touch.

Aside from these goodies, I got several original DVD's of super robots.

Hooboy reply

Oh my…here we go again…another Voltron fan justifying Voltron’s (Go-Lion’s ) crookedness…Actually I have no time for this “merry-go-round prattle” but hey…it’s Sunday here in my place.

Mr. Ee Em See Squared…do you have a life?...do you had a job…well I work for the Redondo Comics group under the banner of Drawingboard Studios. I’m working on a comic feature “Hilakbot” so my time’s very precious.
The pay’s not much, but I can afford to munch on “The Outback” and buy myself a computer, Pentuim 4 and hone into my 3D digital art skills. Heck, I even bought myself a collector’s issue of Bandai’s Soul of Chogokin Voltes V.

I should be doing my very own graphic novel, but I’ll be checking on the lay-outs which means no drawings…just arranging so I’ll waste my time answering your drivel.

O.K. let’s zero-in on your replies;

1. Immitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Hell, just about every combining robot anime is more or less the same anyway. check it out:

“Immitation IS the highest form of flattery…Hell YES!”

If you’ve read the stats I’ve send you via Deviantart, I think you’ll understand what I mean when I said Voltron ripped Voltes V off! It goes beyond the 5 man thing…Bye the way, the five man thing was started by “Gatchaman”. Then follows Combattler V, Voltes V, Gaiking, then these live “sentai shows” Bio Man, Five Man, Go Rangers, Jack Q, a host of others too numerable to list then Voltron (Go-Lion)

There were concepts in Voltron very identical to Voltes V. But what really boggles me was the many imitated scenes plus the flying base imitation thing…It boggles me because the makers of Go-lion really stooped down so low, can’t they create a new act for a change…and what’s really made me laugh, are American fans being too gullible suckers for Japanese Surplus!

2) if anyone's copying the Voltes V name, it was WEP, NOT the creators of GoLion.

O.K. at least you admitted that World Events Pictures copied Voltes V’s name and use it for their Go-Lion rehashing…I’ll use my reply in this at the next reaction.

3) if it were up to a popularity contest, Voltron would prolly win over Voltes V hands-down. sorry to tell u that, but it's an inescapable truth.

I think Voltes V would never have to enter any popularity contest against Voltron. It’s enough to say that once upon a time, way back in 1977 (Star Wars’ year) Voltes V was the epitome of all super robots and anime here in the Philippines. Voltes V’s ratings were sky rocketing in those times, toppling even the much internationally popular Mazinger Z to number two (Don’t take my word for it, you know how to use the computer and internet, look it up in GMA Channel 7’s achieves!)

…And just for the record, Voltes V NEVER used any other robot’s name or title to boost it’s popularity…Which reminds me…isn’t murderously FOUL for a robot show, or any matter whatsoever to use someone’s name just to spear head for popularity?...Is that what Voltron and the WEP had done…and gullible fans never even thought that Voltron’s name came from a far more superior super robot story.
And when I said “superior” it goes beyond just how powerful, goes beyond the techno-gigs or how good looking a super robot image looks like.

You claimed you’ve never saw Voltes V…erhaps bro that is why you keep clinging to this Voltron/Go-lion faker… Voltes V’s story is more poignant, more emotional; the Voltes Team is more than just “You’re Right as Rain there Keith!” They’re more than just “clock works” been put by the writers and creators to make the giant robot move.
Just an example; for me, the most powerful episode of Voltes V was the second episode (The fate of Planet Earth) were the Voltes Team’s mother sacrificed herself before her pinned children just to save them and their base from death.
I doubt if Voltron and the Voltron fans that made the plagiarizing Voltron popular, could see that!

4) you're using "king of robots" as an argument? it was a kiddie cartoon, get off your high-horse.

Now you’re admitting Voltron is just a “kiddie cartoon”…

That is what the difference between a Voltron fan from a Voltes V fan.

Yes, Voltes V seems like just your average vintage kiddie cartoon: “If you’re an American!”

In 1978, Ferdinand E. Marcos, the defunct dictator pulled the plug on Voltes V’s T.V series. A generation of kids (including yours truly) was denied of the most popular T.V. fantasy on those times.
Voltes V was like an escapist’s ritual… like Elvis; every Friday at 6:00 p.m. kids from school hurried home to watch how Voltes V battles the evil Boazanians.
I remember seeing college kids and working young adults rushing fast to go home just to watch Voltes V…You may laugh and scoff at this cause you never experienced the Voltes V phenomena.
Then suddenly, a presidential decree wiped Voltes V off the air.
Marcos lamely excused that Voltes V was so violent for kids that he had to take it off the air. But soon, studies from U.P (University of the Philippines) revealed that a Marcos crony had a pet show (An American educational show that could not compete with the ratings of Voltes V) plus, presidential advisers implies the rebellious over tones of the non-horned Boazanians as they stormed the evil Emperor Zanbasil’s Celestial Tower in the final episode of the series may suggest Marcos’ enemies to topple his regime in the same fashion.
According to several commenting writers (One of them was Jessica Zafra, a writer, columnist,) “It was like Marcos took the innocence of childhood from the children related to Voltes V. Voltes V was no ordinary cartoon; it stressed team work, obedience, perseverance, love for parents and the defense of one’s homeland from foreign invaders was a noble and desirable act!” Indeed, Voltes V was a victim of Martial Law and Crony Capitalism.
When Marcos left the country after a “bloodless revolution” in 1985, Voltes V was back on air as if La Gour, the father of the Voltes Team had lead the people to freedom just like in the series.
For me, this was the very test of true might for a super robot show; No, not even Voltron had survived the harsh reality of a dictator’s Martial Law!
So you see Mr. Ee Em See Squared, Voltron maybe just a little kids’ show, but Voltes V was part of those dark days of Philippine History, and it’s return was embraced in a “hero’s welcome.”

5) if it makes u feel any better, Voltes V prolly coulda made a decent addition to the Voltron universe back in the day. There were 2 Voltrons, Golion and Dairugger. A third one was planned, but never made, based upon Albegas. Had it been made, they prolly coulda continued making Voltron by adapting other giant robot shows, and Voltes V coulda been a good addition, don't you think?

Voltes V being with Voltron’s universe…That’s the most disgusting, vomit inducing idea I’ve heard.
Let’s face it…Americans like to “defile” everything they lay their hands on. They’ve done it many times and even the beautiful “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind” was not spared from their ravaging. I’m very happy and Albegas “escaped” the foul net of multi-national meddlings.
Let Voltes V exist in its purest, most oriental form…a form uncorrupted by any meddling western agency, who never knew the life strings of deep, Japanese culture.
A Japanese friend of mine named Hari San once told me Voltes V looked nothing like a super robot…To him. Voltes V had the image of a romantic, graceful yet mighty samurai warrior. When I asked him about Voltron, he said Voltron looked like a can of Western spam.

6) it's ridiculously stupid to argue that one robot could beat another robot simply by drawing it so. that's like saying "Voltes V wins because -I- say so, so IN YO FACE!". If they were real, they'd prolly be an even match...plus, Voltron has a sword and Voltes V has a TOP, so i'm not quite sure how Voltes V is superior with that :S

O.K. This last message is best answered by the stats I’ve given you.
That is IF you’ve read it…anyway I’ll paste the stats one more time so you can read it again and again…or if any body could ever care to read this message.

P.S. I never said Voltes V would win against Voltron just because I draw several illustrations of the matter here in Deviantart and who told you Voltes V just got a top? Bro, between Voltes V and Voltron, Voltes V was the first to have a sword…The Powerful, Celestial Ten-Ku-Ken or Sword of Heaven! (I got a real cool Voltes V slicing Voltron with the Ten-ku-ken if you like to see…also here in Deviant art!)

Supposed a fight erupts between Voltron and Voltes V…

Let’s scrutinize this objectively:

1. The Skills, trainings and abilities of both teams:

There are no mentions of what kind of combat training the Voltron Force had under went in the academy. In regards to the Voltron episodes I’ve seen so far, they were never subjugated under strict, harsh and extreme trainings.

Let’s take the Voltron Force’s skill at face value; Pidge, the youngest of the Voltron Force was said to have martial arts trainings but primarily they were trained as space explorers. Perhaps, they can thoroughly navigate and maneuver through deep space and they can handle the controls of different space craft under Galaxy Alliance specifications.
That’s because they are Space Explorers!

The Voltes Team on the other hand were young, highly skilled Earth Defense Agents. (Voltes V vol.1: Invasion from Outer Space) they were disciplined in such military and oriental combat skills as Karate, Judo, Kendo, Marksmanship and Ninjitsu.

General Oka, (Commander Robinson) one of Camp Big Falcon’s elderly base commander was a Ninja master; 110th descendant of the fierce Oka ninja clan. His daughter, Megumi Oka (Jamie Robinson) one of the pilots of Voltes V, is a sharply skilled “Kunnoichi” (Female ninja). She can actually assassinate Princess Allura in her sleep if she wants to (She’s just so darn sweet…

Further more, the Voltes Team most likely to use their martial arts skills to enhance Voltes V’s deadly counter attacks (Voltes V vol.4: To catch a butterfly)

The Butterfly technique is an ancient form of Samurai skill were a practitioner dodges an enemy sword without avoiding it. On the contrary, this defense maneuver anticipates the sword attack and uses the opponent swordsman’s own strength against him just like Aikido. I doubt if Voltron and the Voltron Force had the same training know-hows.

More so, the Voltes Team underwent harsh and murderous training sessions under Dr. Sanjuki (Dr. Hook) where they learned the lethal “Spin-Fly Technique”. (Voltes V vol.9: The need for rigid training.)

The Spin-Fly technique, it should be noted, transforms the Volt Machines in their maximum speed into one giant, rapidly charging drill impervious to any laser and projectile attack. It alone can send Voltron and the whole Voltron Force into the afterlife.

I strongly believe that between the Voltes Team and the Voltron Force, the Voltes Team in this aspect had the upper hand.

2. Weapons and Enemy Comparison of the Two super robots:

Voltron was known to carry an array of space weapons against the “Robeasts” from Planet Doom. These weapons are:
Royal Shield Blasts, Blazing Arrows, Wing Attack, Lion Torches, Voltron Kick, Electro-Cross Force, Voltron Eye beam, Lion Head Attack, Blazing Sword!
“Robeasts”- should be noted, are monsters mostly fashioned to look terrifying yet they still looked like giant clay creatures. A few of these had armored coverings and carry giant swords but more often they lumbers mindlessly like drunken frat boys.
Voltron’s final weapon of choice is the “Blazing Sword.” (A poor carbon copy of the Ten-Ku-Ken just like Voltron’s name)

On the other hand, Voltes V sports an arsenal of Ninjitsu-based super weapons against the “Beast Fighters” from Planet Boazania.
These weapons are:
Ultra-Electro Magnetic Tops, Ultra Electro Magnetic Whips, Chain Knuckles, Grand Fire, Concealed Bazookas, Gatling Missiles, Ultra Electro Magnetic Beam, Voltes Kick, Ultra-Electro Magnetic Ball, Ten-ku-ken (Sword of Heaven)!

“Beast fighters” - are sentient giant robot monster-war machines.
They are generally covered in heavy Maxigold armors, since most of these behemoths had genetically implanted Boazanian warrior’s minds, they can think, plan an attack and some of them are skilled in archery and swordsmanship.

Voltes V’s final weapon of choice is the Ten-Ku-Ken (Sword of Heaven) a weapon forged from deep Japanese Samurai mythos.

But before Voltes V could use the Ten-ku-ken, the great sword unleashes a powerful “Ultra-Electro Magnetic Ball.”
This mighty ball of intense electro-magnetic energy engulfs, weakens the armors and paralyzes the strongest of Voltes V’s opponents.
Thus, Voltes V can easily bring down the Ten-ku-ken at the trapped opponent and destroy it with ease.

As an addition, Voltes V can even release several of the Ultra-Electro Magnetic Balls in rapid successions that means there is no time for an enemy to escape!

One can just imagine how Voltron could fair against something like the “Ultra-Electro Magnetic ball”.

Thansk for the fave!
Whoa! That was long but very educational. I liked both of the cartoons Voltes V and Voltron cause I too grew up in the Philippines before migrating abroad.

Voltes V has a more complex storyline compared to Voltron or Golion in Japan, but both are great.
About the dispute who came first, it's Combattler V. He was the first 5 unit vehicles that combine to a giant robot.Voltes V came in second after the Combattler series.
As for Golion he's not a rip off but somehow we can say the studio was inspired always by the "5" team series to follow in the foot steps of these succesful anime( VoltesV/ Combattler V)for a hit show. But I think Golion wasn't that popular in Japan during it's release. Golion though is very popular abroad as we all know him as Voltron.

Who would win Voltes V vs. Voltron...

I think Voltron hands down, even without the 5 pilots piloting him he would win. I'm a Voltes fan too but when I read the original Golion storyline, I was amazed what his story was.The one thing that defeated Golion was a godess.

Golion a god?...Frankly I don't believe in god, God or gods...so that doesnt count...

Just remember that Combattler V boged down after defeating the last Campbelian Monster, whereas Voltron with all it's supposedly powerful technology, let King Zarcon escape, not to mention one of it's pilots died in the series (Golion's series) while Voltes V successfully defended the earth, and the Voltes Team were "intact" and brought the war on Boazania's doorsteps and liberated the Boazanian slaves!

Voltron fans (or Voltron's attorneys) will say anything just to justify their hero...Voltes V rules...Voltron drools big time!
