If you ever noticed the Kaijus (Monsters) from the movie "Pacific Rim" they maybe bad ass, but they were as slow moving and Clumsy like their Jaegers (Giant Robot) counterparts. Voltes V's weapon is his speed, (flight) variety of ninja-based weapons, skills of his pilots and his ability to Volt-in/Volt-Out. I bet they will be making systematic attack run using counter attack Guerilla tactics. Bye rhe way, I seem to noticed Voltron's slipping away from the discussions, like conveniently hiding behind ugly monsters like the Eva 01 and the Kaijus...If that so, then the very idea is so pathetic...I have made my point

1. Voltes V is way too bad ass for Voltron.
2. The Voltes Team, highly skilled pilots of Voltes V are SEASONED fighters. If you try to watch the First episode. (I have a complete DVD of all Voltes V episodes.)You will see they were trained like the G-Force of Gatchaman so they were deadly in and out of their Volt Machines.
Voltes V was there, way back 1977, Voltron (or Golion) slinks somewhere in the 1980's.

If Voltes V is so badass how come no one save for a small percentage of people have heard of it?
Also the GoLion/Voltron team members are also skilled fighters. Save for the Princess. Oh Quiet/Sven was killed/injured? Yes he was but let's see how someone can handle themselves against a Beastman and a Witch who uses dirty tricks to achieve victory. I'm sure Voltes V is a decent show but until I see what makes it "great" I'll stick with other badass Giant Robot heroes. Just saying....

the first Super Sentai was in 1975 with Gorenger. In the next year we have the anime Combattler v which started the robot romance trilogy. the series did in fact took aspects of the sentai series but was diffrent in every way. they still had a monster of the week and they had their suits in red, brown, pink, blue , and green. The creator of Combattler v will direct Voltes V, Daminos, and of course Golion (voltron) but it wasn't until battle fever J when the senati will get their first mech and then Masksmen when all the sentai can pilot their own fighter or components to form the first sentai mech with five parts.

You're just jealous because your robot has no sequels, no remakes, nothing that Voltron has that makes it more on the "pop" side in the U.S. And furthermore Unit 01 of the Evangelion series of giant cyborgs could send Voltes V to the scrapheap. Tell me what ya say to THAT!

Jealous?...sequels and remakes ruins the original essence of any shows...The U.S. is notorious for taking other oversea shows and "Americanizing" them...Voltes V remained very pure to it's Samurai essence...Evangelion, the one with with an effeminate pilot character?...Tell me, what would happen to a person if he suddenly stands at the way of a raging locomotive?...that would happen to the Eav unit 01. Chodenji Mashin Voltes V's metal is Diamond reinforces and his maximum speed is Mach 20, just his speed can ripped an inferior match like Evangelion to shred. just like that!

Treason?...Voltes V's affiliates with Planet earth under the Earth Defense Force commanded by Field General Oka and Camp. Big Falcon. If the Galaxy Alliance and their voltrons would try to Invade Earth, they will return home as junks and shredded pieces of meat scrap cause they will be sliced and diced by Voltes V.

I remember Voltron by the TV commertials of toys which I saw long time ago, but never knew it was a copycat of Voltes. ThatΒ΄s an worthy enough pic, lol

The Voltron name was actually the idea of the artist who was hired to make a new logo for the show since the cartoon was cut and dubbed from overseas. The original name for Voltron was supposed to be Volton or Volron. The artist added the 't' or 'r' for aesthetic purposes. Hope that sheds some light on the matter. And I cannot forget that the piece looks great...the color and the poses.

Well I'm just sitting here watching the voltron dvd and they said something funny.To answer your question Voltron didn't get his name from Voltes V.Infact it came from three different names Volta,Volton.So that disney had a movie out at the time named Tron so the man who came up with the name Voltron Put those 2 toughter and Voltron is what came out.So there is no mention of Volts V.

Look, I'm a little hectic today for a Voltron discussion (I thought I'm done with this by telling you All super robots are great just dont "force feed" me about Voltron Lion)
I'm working on some "digital" comics so I'm burning my brains just to make it right.
My "hate" of Voltron Lion Force boils down just mere fan fight...It had something very personal.
So I can't just answer you inquiries...suffice to say that we can be pals but skip the Voltorn lion thing....K?
