Icarus is one of the key figures of That Man's project to introduce 'beneficial' Gears to society. He was originally a boy named Kaza, son of former crusader-turned-leader Temiz Yilmaz. Kaza became a major casualty of an attack launched by rebels. His father was confronted with a solution to revive his now dead son in Gear form. He agreed to this solution, but soon regretted it after finally meeting Icarus, knowing that his real son could never be replaced. He rejected the offer to program Icarus with Kaza's memories.
Thus Icarus was left with no other benefactor but Ky Kiske, whom his father trusted the most. Although Icarus seems very close to Ky, his allegiance remains unknown. He is currently researching the history of Gears, and he has many questions to ask That Man, however, the more he researches, the more he discovers the possible truth behind these 'beneficial' Gears.

As far as personality goes, Icarus is noble, but very inquisitive, as well as hasty. It's hard to keep him away from something once he's become interested in it.
He finds fighting to be exhilarating, and he cannot seem to control his love for fighting enough to take on his desired role as a wise, inspiring pacifist. Thus, he is conflicted in his current position.

This guy's one of the harder ones to flesh out, since he's not as, well, 'zany' enough on the outside...
