Hmmm, I see it almost as like a metaphor for the abandonment of the Church. The incense is smoking but the fire(passion/devotion) isnt there anymore?

Indeed there was.. Religion is the source of many deaths and quite possibly the death of humanity. Wars in the middle east for example. Whether it's the past or the present religion has caused many of us to fight which I believe is the direct opposite of what religion teaches us. I am a believer in god just not the system. I chose the pope due to the influence and corruption of the roman catholic church.

Interesting painting! And probably more accurate than many know. I myself am a christian and can definitely identitfy with the corruption in the RCC and the American Churches. Even with the prosperity preachers like Kenneth Copeland in the 80s and today, I think, are dragging God's name in the mud. But I dont think its far-fetched to believe that the babylonian system has infiltrated the churches through occultic organizations and the financial elite. The result is major corruption and scandals in the church, causing many to leave the faith. The "indulgences" of the church can be no different than the money changers in the Temple...hmm

Everyone speaks bad of babylonian religions, when in fact they were no worse than the abrahamic ones

They actually were/are worse than that of the abrahamic ones in that It attempts to change the Truth of God into a lie and attempts to give honor to wicked men at the top and lead many to their deaths

World Government was the idea at the first being lead by Nimrod (meaning rebel) and his "mystery religion".

One major Good thing about the Abrahamic covenant is that in his seed shall the nations be blessed Gaatians l 3: 16] β€œNow to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to
seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ”.

Zoroastrism isn't worse than christianity or islam though.

but indeed, religions provided order... i dont see many "Atheist" hospitals, but many St. "BLAHBLAH"'s Hospital, orphanage, etc. I'm an atheist myself, but i do recognize religion has some benefits to society...

MarianoDavidOtero In reply to CrabTasterMan [2010-05-12 08:17:35 +0000 UTC]

Historically, when true Christianity came to any region, those who were practicing Christ's commands would began to reach out to help the poor, the oppressed, the sick, and needy. Most of our present day hospitals, charity centers, orphanages and rescue missions were for the most part founded by Christians in keeping with the Biblical commands of Christ to demonstrate His love to a needy world.

JohnFaa In reply to CrabTasterMan [2010-05-08 15:40:04 +0000 UTC]

Thats mostly because atheists haven't been influencial enough in the west to do so historically, and christian organisations get to found hospitals first anyway.

Religion truly outlived its usefullness, for morality is not dependent on it.

"Religion truly outlived its usefullness, for morality is not dependent on it." I certainly agree. The teachings of that religion i particular seem to be lost on the so called believers for most of the time. But I am not sure if it does indeed make people put more thought into their morals and their actions. To some degree of the total population of believers. But lately I'm starting to feel more and more that that percentage is not worth the trouble Christianity or Islam or Judaism causes. Some religions are far tamer, like Buddhism.

Budhism does have its problems, but yes, its generally better than christianity and islam

Atheists have existed throughout human history, just not in major numbers as there are now.

But where would you get morality and on what basis or foundation?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JohnFaa In reply to MarianoDavidOtero [2010-05-11 10:34:38 +0000 UTC]

It is a human quality that we feel sorry for other people and naturally find it unpleasant to harm other people without reason.

Religion did not prevent violence just as much as morality isn't based exclusively on it.

It's not important what we think, what message were you trying to deliver.

I get from it that the Pope is death himself and Organized religion will mean the end of us all. It is beautiful yet horrifying.
