you just blew my mind. this image is fucking awesome thanks for sharing. the quality of the style is of the utmost. this is the one image i would go thru the hassle of the print button for. (can we make this happen, i would like a print)
as for my personal interpretation, i have a hard time expressing my views on this topic. i think what we call organized religion is a croc, and the furtherist thing possible from initial intentions. but, its exactly what it is and what it needs to be, and has been. the world needs religion. i think faith is great. wish i had some faith in organized religion.
.i did this tattoo a few months back, i wasn't going to post it, but seeing this i figure i had to. its been clawing around within for a few years now. im glad it came to fruation. my skills arn't refined enough when it comes to being able to express myself in any way shape or form of legibility, so i had to have it commissioned. check it out:

i love this one, growing up all roman catholic and such, (actually in it long enough to get my confirmation, and i love bringing this up with my sacreligious peices) its pretty much how i see the church. catholocism, christianity in general grew on me, but in sort of the right way, so a cancer would be the perfect way to describe it. but i see this as a generalisation for all religion (hence the name religious cancer and not christian cancer), people make art about what they know, and you (from what i gather from the convo under this) know christianity.
and on the execution of the painting itself, it amazes me, for one i cant paint to save my life and two, it just feels right. it has a rennaisance feel to me, and seeing as the majority of rennaisance paintings were religious, the conflict between the two make this perfect

I would have accomplished nothing had I done so.. I merely would have shown ignorance and that is just something I am not about. I was raised Roman Catholic and Much of my family are Conservative Republicans.. I must say that I am now a Democrat who leans closer to Socialism and has not found the correct religion as of yet..

Hmm...interesting. I'm happy that you are not about that. I respect that. Well, I am a roman catholic and a conservative republican. I do not have hard feelings toward democrats or athiests. I cannot change your mind, It's your decision. About socialism... I disagree strongly, but again, it's your decision. Some people have bad examples in their lives of what a christian is. I do not think that all democrats and atheists go to hell. That's ridiculous. God is the judge, I have no right judging others.

Hmm.. Interesting... My issue with Conservative Republicans (and this doesn't mean every republican just merely a stereotype) is that they cant seem to find away to seperate church and state.. Not everybody is christian and not everybody agrees with christianity in general. Yet our government has this way of involving the bible on every issue.. This country was built on one thing and one thing alone and thats freedom. Freedom of religion, Freedom of speech and so on.. Yet sometimes we violate these rights because well the bible says so.. That my friend is what Religious Cancer is all about.. It's an infection on society and our prejudism towards other religions, sexual orientation, and pro choice...

I apologize for not responding sooner, I haven't been on in a while and just spotted your comment. I don't want to force people to become christian, that wouldn't be right. Yes, our founding fathers did support freedom strongly. But I think many of them were very religious. In the US pledge we say "one nation, under God." And on all of our dollar bills and currency there are the words "In God we trust." I don't think that it is wrong to involve God. But people aren't forced to believe what they don't want to believe. If we have freedom, why can't we let people know that we believe in God? Of course, if you do not believe in God, that's your perogative and you can make that public. I am pro-life. I do not have prejudice against other religions. I have athiest and buddist friends. I do not think less of them...See, not everyone feels as you say

As stated previously this is mereley a stereotype and not a speculation of an entire group. You happen to be educated and believe in hearing out both sides. Some individuals do not and unfortunetly some of these individuals happen to be our leaders.. I do believe in God just maybe not the same interpretation that is documented and facilitated by our leaders. These leaders of ours justify there actions due to religon. Hitler killed Jews, just as Jefffrey Lundgren killed for God.. But you my friend are not the stereotype that I have displayed in this here painting..

A fine work indeed. As others have observed the smoke is well done.
The smoke could be a reference to the white smoke signifying a newly chosen Pope, The death's head to indicate the (normally) short tenure of a Pope - normally chosen as an old man (therefore nearer to his God) from a select group of old men.
Religiousness is fine in for those who wish to practice such social behaviours- just not Our thing really. However, it's the intolerance shown by some participants, of all faiths, that need curtailing.
