So I couldn't really decide on a final idea but the main one was Β that
Β while he is a proud prototype of the factory, he finds blueprints which indicate that he was created for an entirely different purpose (a sinister one if I may add).Β
It it was a dumb spooky thingy I wanted to tease with.Β

That would explain why he's got weapons out the arse, though I always attributed that to Cold War paranoia. I did also theorize a while back that JNZ was planning on mass-producing robots like Robot if he'd been "successful" (as happens with prototypes), but in my headcanon, they deemed him a failure and attempted to dismantle him (but they killed his family). That's part of why he wipes out humanity, that and the oppression against robots in general.
