uhhhhh, my closest guess is maybe possibly Asgore since he is a father...or was a father, hey maybe this is an alternate universe Homer if the kids died and Marge left him...oh my that got dark quickly 0_o
or there is Sans, their both chubby and lazy with a tragic side to them, plus a saw a video with homer dailogue dubbed over Sans and it actually worked really well, yeah lets pick that one indstead

I never got into Metal Gear enough for that to be my first thoughts, I tired playing once but I guess I’m not good at stealth games

Personally my first thoughts were to Leela from Futurama, both are badass fighting women, both have ponytails and both only have one functioning eye
Huh, I wonder if people with eyepatches also have trouble with depth perception?

People with eye patches do have a general eyesight dysfunction, but however people that wear eye patches don't always have a bad eye underneath. 
Apparently there are people that will wear an eye patch when they are in environments that are both bright and dark. 
When in the bright environment they keep the patch on. So that when they ever go into a dark environment, they could remove it and see much more clearly. 
Since the eye was always covered up, it gained a perception of darkness which was very useful whenever you had to head into darker areas. 
This was mostly done by pirates during the Renaissance era whenever they were working above or below ship or heading off to sleep and eat. 
The practice has mostly warn off given the advent of flashlight technology, but some people still practice it for their specific work environments or when out in the wilderness during night time. 
This is especially good for whenever exploring darker areas like caves and such.

dangit of course, Firnk, the perfect comparison, they're both buck toothed scientists with stuttered speech and yellow skin, why didn't i think of that?
well to be fair i based this on the thoughts of a fanart i saw that had Alphys in a 'clenched teeth' pose so i wouldn't notice the buck teeth and didn't have dialogue so psychical looks is all i had to go on

i can defiantly see the resemblance to a Koopa, hey maybe she could be one, she could she hiding a shell under that labcoat and one of the paper Mario games revealed female Koopas can grow hair

pffft, imagining her as Godzilla I picture her a as giant accidently bumping into all the buildings and apologising X3
