From what I know of baby writing, Cadance's new plan puts a heavy emphasis on technology. Most notably pegasi, but also blending earthpony and unicorn magic together.

Do you think computers just fell from the sky? Earth ponies are responsible for most technology in Equesrtia. Can't carry load, invent wheel, axle and cart. Can't lift load, invent ramp, rope and pulley. Can't crack zebra Enigma Code? Invent computer. Unicorn spells can only do so much, and few bother to learn mechanics.
I may be grasping at straws, but I know in Fallout: Equestria Pip-Bucks are blends of unicorn and earth pony magic.

Why are we only thinking about ponies? How about the minotaurs, griffons, zebras. They would have made an impact on their world too.

Species are very jealous of their own technologies. Other races, not native to Equestria have developed computers too, but taken different routes in hardware and software. Imagine one nation using Mac's and another using PC's. Both have great computing capabilities but are too different to be compatible.
The Zebra Grasslands sit on an ocean of oil, mountains of coal and more gas than our world knows what to do with. They have learned to enchant fossil fuels. Minotaurs and diamond dogs enchant gems. Griffons borrow techs developed by other species, but adjust and improve it to suit their own needs.
Changelings have developed their own magics rivaling some of the greatest unicorns. Sea Ponies, being aquatic, rule the seas and rivers, have magics too. King Sombra used his own magic to change the Crystal Empire to suit his own desires, since the Crystal Ponies have no magic, and little technology of their own before his arrival.

If I draw her with her horn, people tell me that she didn't have a horn at that age because of the comics. If I draw her without her horn, people who haven't read the comics (like myself) ask why her horn isn't there. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. =b

And yet no one complains that Luna could not have possibly met Cadance when she was this young, which is a legitimate continuity error and not something that's from a book that has so many continuity errors and mistakes that I refuse to believe that what that book established as Cadance's origin is canon in any way unless it's outright confirmed in the show...

Given the many other questionable elements of that book (describing Apple Bloom with the wrong colors, which Berrow KEEPS DOING in other books, Gilda and Trixie trying to corrupt Twilight for... some reason)... I don't believe you, and will continue to ignore that book and stick to my belief that Cadance was naturally born an alicorn.
