What do you think of Spectra and Abbey? Do you think they'll be out soon?

People are speculating they'll be out Friday 13th, but who knows so far?
I think Spectra looks great as a cartoon, but the photo released of the doll had a disappointing outfit. I like that her arms and legs seem to disappear though. That's cool. : D
As for Abbey, she seems cool (Love her hair!), but I wish she was white or purple! We've already got too many blue dolls.
Did you seen the drawing of Jackson dressed all geeky? I hope they release him like that!

You know, for me, I was kind of disappointed that Spectra had purple hair rather than something ghostly, like grey, or silver. The outfit sort of took me aback too, because it looks so strange when comparing it to the other girl's clothes, which look thematc, but trendy. She looks sort of like she's in a failed prom dress, Spectra does. But there's no saying they'll release her in that, right? <-- hopes!

For Abbey, I was sort of confused by the pink and blue streaks. Aurora Borealis, at least those I've seen, are mostly green. That would have been more monstrous too, I think! But she's so cute, I don't think it much matters about the details. She is blue though, probably the same colour as Lagoona. I think she'd have been a lot cooler in silver or pure white (almost like the black-and-white Frankie doll white), with pale blue lips. But what do I know, right? Lol! Not like I make dolls! (I do buy them though.)

I didn't notice anything about Jackson -- eep! Lol! Typical: I was too focussed on the new girls. I just wish they'd put out Operetta.

I have seen the pullips. I wish they were more afforable! I managed to get Nendoroid figures of Ciel and Sebastian, but not without the help of my best buddy from Tokyo, who happened to be in town during the big local Anime Con! The packages had no English on them, and I don't read Japanese. They were stored with one side out and no pictures. I got the only two at the con because my pal leapt in and started pulling them out for me. (She's a Brit, but speaks/reads Japanese.) I owe her BIG time. She is just an angel! I've *never* seen the Pullips at a Con.

Likewise, I've never seen the black-and-white Frankie, though I think she previewed at a Con, didn't she? Uh, yeah. San Diego Con. If you haven't seen her, hold on to your (metaphorical) hat!

[link]

Pricy... but not as expensive as a BB Pullip! However, I think that I'm slowly being worn down by the cuteness of those dolls!

Here's the one I really want:

Eeep! Pricy!

MH - I dunno about Clawd and Ula D. They're not doing much for me. Somthing about him looks a bit... sinister. Ula's outfit is also a touch naff, but I think it might grow on me.

I'm more excited about the other releases, especially this Frankie who is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen:
[link]

B+W Frankie's cute. Did you see this year's Comic Con Ghoulia yet?
[link]

Wooow. That is a gorgeous BJD. *___*

Come to the Pullip side. Cooome~ xD
They just announced that they're releasing Mini Pullips of Sebastian, Grell and Ciel soon. They're not quite as cute as the full size ones, but as my Sebastian's been rewigged to be an OC instead I have a feeling I'm going to succumb to the minis...
Here: [link]
No certainty on the price yet. Might retail for about $30? x_X

Re. [link] oh good God. That's all I need! Lol! I love Sebastian's mini-Pullip face and Ciel (who is my fave) is beautiful! Here's hoping they're not too expensive ($30 bucks would be great). You have the bigger Pullips, yeah? How are they? I love the pink dress/Ciel Pullip.

I do like the hose on the Home Ick Frankie, btw, and I'm not too excited about Draculaura and Clawde either. He just strikes me as this big dumb jock, and when I saw that, with Draculaura being my favourite, I was really disappointed.

I like the Comic Con Ghoulia, but I'm not terribly interested in the super-hero get-up. It is fun that she's dressing for a Con though, and apt.

I only have Sebastian, as it happens. Well, both version of Sebastian - Regular and tutor. Both are gorgeous with stunning makeup, but their wigs are a little blergh. A friend of my has Grell too, who it's the cutest thing. I have seen either version of Ciel in person, but I have a couple of Dals (The smaller child ones from the Pullip brand, like Ciel) and they're SO cute.

I was disappointed Draculaura's with Clawde too. Mostly because I was totally shipping Draculaura and Jackson. >>;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MagicBunni In reply to BedraggledKitty [2011-05-09 05:57:32 +0000 UTC]

I was stunned by Grell! He's so pretty as a Pullip. I don't favour him in the anime, though I do respect others who just adore him. As a Pullip his colours make him so striking! Do the wigs need gel to work properly? Is that it? UGH! So tempted to get the pretty, pink-dressed Ciel!

Ah! Bad-luck re. shipping Draculaura and Jackson. I just don't get why they had to make Clawde this big, dumb-jock type. He doesn't seem interesting. Maybe that will change and we'll both be surprised. However, I think one of the latest webisodes I saw had her like about half his height. I cringed. She's going to look like a back-loaded puppet if she sits in his lap. They'll do something interesting with him, I hope.

Btw, I got the BJD on layaway. I already have a Ciel, so....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BedraggledKitty In reply to MagicBunni [2011-05-09 07:40:29 +0000 UTC]

Some of the wigs need gel. Grell's didn't seem too bad and I don't think Ciel Robin Version's ringlets do either. Regular Sebastian isn't so bad, but Private Teacher Sebastian - my gosh. His wig was just solid in places. A lot of Pullip wigs are notoriously bad, though the more recent ones seem better (My friend got me Wayne [link] as a present last month. His wig is amazing. I'm still rewigging and rechipping him anyway though, lol...). So yeah, a lot of owners rewig their dolls.

The BJD? Lucky. *___*
I love BJDs, but I can never see myself getting more than one or two, and I'd definitely want to make them look like my OCs but I just can't pick which OCs I like the most...

MagicBunni In reply to BedraggledKitty [2011-05-10 00:30:04 +0000 UTC]

Solid? Solid Seb hair? Oh boy. That's a quality control problem for sure, yeah? I mean, was it like with some of the Monster High dolls where part of the hair is 'solid' (think Draculaura's bangs) but you can wash it out to make it soft? I'd have no idea how to rewig one of these little cuties, let alone 'rechipping' <-- never heard of it before! Mostly, I know about BJDs.

What does 'OC' mean, B_Kitty, can I ask? Btw, I'd be interested in seeing any BJD you were thinking of! Sadly... (okay, tragically) I'll take just about any reason to look at just about any BJD. I love them, but they are spendy, those dollies! However, IOS has come back to me and I do have Osiris for my Sebastian!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BedraggledKitty In reply to MagicBunni [2011-05-10 10:05:07 +0000 UTC]

OC means Original Characters. So pretty much just characters I came up with which I use for RP/will be using for an upcoming webcomic eventually. : P
I have no BJD's in mind for the sole reason that if I did then I'd find it very difficult to resist buying them. I'm quite in awe of DreamofDoll's BJDs though.

It probably could be washed out - Seb's hair I mean - but the issue is you'd have to take the wig off first anyway because if you accidentally get water inside a Pullip's head it can mess up their eye mechanism. Rewigging's pretty simple - take the old Pullip wig off (It's only glued on) and replace it. They take size 8-9 or 9-10 wigs, same as most large BJDs. Rechipping's a little harder. It's where you change the eyecolor. You have to open their head up, take out their eye mechanism and either cut or push their old eyes out (The coloured bits, not the whole globe). The older ones have rubber eyes that need cutting out with a scalpel, but the newer ones are solid plastic chips which you can just push out. You can switch Pullip's eyes around, or buy new ones from companies like Coolcat. That's about it. ^^

By the way, are you on Flickr? I'm on there more than on here. : P

Oh! A webcomic would be cool. Have you drawn any pages and put them up online? I'll go check your gallery, because it could be I missed them. I have a DoD A&D 2 and he is beautiful! My friend has a DoD Code (gor-geous)!

Rechipping sounds like something I wouldn't do terribly well at and you're brave if you've done it yourself! I have a hard enough time restringing dolls. Lol! I'll have to youtube rechipping now.

I'm not on Flickr, but willing to look at any flickr-pics you may have, particularly of your Pullips!

A page of the comic is online, but it's pretty shambolic atm.
The issue is I asked two of my friends to do it too, since it's all based on a RP with a lot of our characters. But neither of them have done any pages yet... 8D
So I'll start linking people to it when it's properly underway and I'm less embarassed by the whole ordeal.

[link] is my Flickr. You should totally sign up, if only for the MH Groups. 8D

Okay, so is the link over to your page? What a pity your friends haven't done any pages of your comic yet! You should give them a little poke 'Where's my pages?' and then make big, damp anime/manga eyes. Lol! You should link it up and not be embarrassed about it. Come to think of it, the whole point of a place like Deviant Art is to not fret about your creativity. People around here are all about the creativity!

I'll head over to the flickr link after work today, which is going to be a bear because I am really tired! I blame this:

Oh man, Gaiman is a very heavy read, yeah? Seriously, I sometimes get a headache reading him. Lol! Maybe I'm lazy? And I hope your friends are going to do pages for your soon as I'm curious about your OCs now! (And it is a good book, I swear! It's a good dystopia.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BedraggledKitty In reply to MagicBunni [2011-05-12 08:45:22 +0000 UTC]

It was the first Gaiman book I read (I finished it last night) - I didn't find it too bad, but I'm used to much quicker-paced books. I liked it enough, but considering how intensely loyal his fanbase is, I was expecting it to be better than it was. Now I'll try the books you recommended. Well, I will as soon as I can afford them. : P

Heh, I have most my OCs as dolls which are on my Flickr. Unfortunately I had to take most of the backstories down to avoid spoilers in the comic. : P
I'm seeing the friend who's the main culprit for not having done any (The other friend has at least roughly finished, and it just fine-tuning it) today, so will attack her over it. x<

MagicBunni In reply to BedraggledKitty [2011-05-13 04:58:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. While I'm moderately afraid I'll be skinned alive, but I had the same experience. Gaiman didn't do it for me either. No fault of his own, of course. I finished off the Divergent book and I'm looking forward to the next, for sure.

Fingers are crossed for you seeing the main culprit and attackin --- hey, wait a sec! I hope you can get your friend worked-up to finish off the pages!

Me too. Gaiman fans are savage!
I'm going to try the first of the books you recommended with the money left over from the convention at the end of this month, I reckon. I'll be sure to let you know what I think!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MagicBunni In reply to BedraggledKitty [2011-05-13 14:11:08 +0000 UTC]

Ah! I didn't mean to make trouble for you, BedraggledKitty. It is a good book and the ebook copy is less costly (if that helps)! Which convention, may I ask? <-- you may already have told me this, but it's 7 AM on a Friday so I may be sleep-posting.

Yeah, re. the Gaiman fans sometimes though. Some of them seem to think Gaiman is God's gift. I agree he's really talented, but that doesn't make him the writer for everyone, that's for sure! I sometimes find his writing a bit twee, or fancy, you know? Then again, I know one of my best friends thinks Stephanie Meyer is dreadful, and she doesn't bother me at all. Lol! Divergent, even if the writing style isn't your fave, is an interesting premise (to the point some elements of the societies in there had me wanting to slap someone).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BedraggledKitty In reply to MagicBunni [2011-05-13 15:46:51 +0000 UTC]

Nah, I want to read it! I just can't afford to until after Expo, but I nearly always have money left over, so...
The convention is London MCM Expo. Just a few weeks to go! (And my wig hasn't arrived yet! Argh!)

Haha, I couldn't get into Stephanie Meyer at all. I can't read books if I don't like the main character (Couldn't stand Harry Potter for the same reason) and Bella really, really got on my nerves. I can put up with really bad plots, however, if the characters are good enough to hold it. I love writers like Eoin Colfer (My hero! <3) and Derek Landy. So basically Irish dudes... xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MagicBunni In reply to BedraggledKitty [2011-05-14 01:25:48 +0000 UTC]

Ah, Eoin Colfer, like as in Artemis Fowl? I tried to read the first book but the main character seemed so mean. Lol! That's how wussy I am. You're in the UK then, yes? If you look across the pond, you'll see where I'm from, though I'm currently on the West Coast of the United States (I love it here)! Are you okay telling me what you didn't like about Bella? I found her sort of strangely unemotional in the movie. I mean, people are like that in real life, of course, but it was odd. I hope you like the book! Parts of it made me want to shake someone. But it was mostly good! My family is very Irish, btw, so cheers on liking Irish writers! Go Irish!

That's you cosplaying Artemis Fowl, yes? I gotta admit that looks cool. I love the 'In the Shuttle' and 'Science of magic' shots, but my faves are Sneer and Study. Don't know where you got the goodies to do the 'Study' shot, but I love to draw mechanisms, so, of course, I love that shot!

Thank you! Actually it's my little brother - I was just the photographer. The whole thing was taken at my Dad's work place. xD

Yeah, Artemis is a meanie for the first book. He does (somewhat predictable spoiler!) eventually get more, uh, human over the course of the series when new villains are introduced.

I didn't like Bella for how obsessed she became with Edward, and how quickly that happened. If I was Edward, I'd be scared of her!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MagicBunni In reply to BedraggledKitty [2011-05-14 08:19:53 +0000 UTC]

OMG, that would be so funny! Edward filing restraining orders for his intense and quiet stalker! Uh, seems like I should have stuck the books longer, right? (By this I mean Artemis Fowl.) Oddly, I got it at the same time as the first Harry Potter. I've read all those. Those were two really different boys for sure.

Nice Artemis photos! The little brother should be proud of himself! Lol! (Please **do not** let him know I totally mistook him for a girl in a wig. Ugh! I doubt very much he'd appreciate that. He has super blue-coloured eyes though! Are they photoshopped that way, or did he just luck out?)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BedraggledKitty In reply to MagicBunni [2011-05-14 08:47:46 +0000 UTC]

Ohoho, should have stuck with them. Though I haven't really gotten that into the latest two books. The fourth one is hilarious though. Opal Koboi is the best villain ever.
I couldn't get into Harry Potter because he just seemed so... whiny. It really got on my nerves, even though I liked some of the side characters a lot. I'm really into A Very Potter Musical though. Harry's much cooler in that.

Photoshop. His eyes are green, really. And he's blonde. xD
And he's only like 11-12, so he's permitted to be mistaken for a girl from time to time. All good!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MagicBunni In reply to BedraggledKitty [2011-05-14 19:16:37 +0000 UTC]

Oh good! Because we wouldn't want him thinking I'm insulting him! Lol! Green eyes are pretty rare, yeah? My half-sis has green eyes that are really pale, like mint. My eyes are brown, so very boring. I suppose I could photoshop them! Whoever did the photoshopping did an excellent job of it!

Ah, I have a high tolerance for most writers, I think. I didn't find Harry whiny at all. He had a lot to whine about, in his defence. But, yeah, I know what it's like to just not grok to a book at all. I keep thinking, for instance, that Gaiman should be a great fit for someone like me, but I'm drawn to writers who are more plain-spoken or scientific.

Good photoshopping. Got any plans for more Artemis Fowl pics?

Mint green? That's amazing. His are just a brownish green. Most my family have green or greyish blue eyes. Mine are the only ones that are blue. : P

Not really any more Artemis photoshoot plans yet. Might have a few Invader Zim ones coming up and I'm faintly thinking along the lines of a Skulduggery Pleasant one too, but I can't find anyone to be Fletcher. Boo!

MagicBunni In reply to BedraggledKitty [2011-05-15 18:09:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. The family has a lot of Irish in it, and they happen to have this, like, array of green and blue eyes. So, of course, I'd come out with boring old brown. Lol! My mum has green eyes, but they're kind of aqua-coloured, but my half sis has the pale green. You're lucky. I think blue is a friendly colour.

I don't know much about Skulduggery Pleasant or Invader Zim, but I did download a copy of one of my faves of Artemis and touch it up with Photoshop. Just simple things, but you're welcome to see it if you want.

The Aurora Borealis is a cool idea. Still, I like her. I was thinking pure white or super pale lavender would be best for her. Oh well!

[link] Here's Jackson's new look that I can only hope they'll doll, because Gloom Beach Jackson is my least favourite (He only came with shorts, sandals and a ball! I felt gipped), but geek chic Jackson would totally win me over!
