Oh good!

Allient: Hi Ben! Long time no see! I can see that your left side door is open. I am just wondering if you have a flight coming up?

dastherr65 [2017-09-05 03:13:22 +0000 UTC]

"Free flight"? I've lived in Indonesia for a long time since my childhood, and I've never seen Garuda give a free flight.. not bad though.

bee2001 In reply to dastherr65 [2017-09-05 14:01:05 +0000 UTC]

Oh. This one? He's just giving free flights on the behalf on himself. Not on the behalf of Garuda.

I wish they do though.

You're Indonesian?

How long have you been living outside Indonesia?

dastherr65 In reply to bee2001 [2017-09-05 21:35:15 +0000 UTC]

You know it. I'd have to say of all the 737s I've met, you seem on the better side of the scale.

I've been out of my homeland since 2013. The last time I've visited was 2015.

Ben: Well... What's wrong with the others?

I'm gonna assume that your Bahasa Indonesia is as rusty as Titanic's hull.

dastherr65 In reply to bee2001 [2017-09-06 13:41:18 +0000 UTC]

Well for one, they don't give free flights. Another thing is some have been downright rude. (Lion air *cough*) so...

Eyep. I can still make small sentences, but it's hard for me to really speak it fluently. I'm struggling to speak it well by this point. :/

bee2001 In reply to dastherr65 [2017-09-07 03:20:47 +0000 UTC]

Ben: I'm sure that there are still good ones... As for the Lion Air one... Well... What did you expect from a guy working for a low cost airliner...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dastherr65 In reply to bee2001 [2017-09-07 03:41:52 +0000 UTC]

Eh, I'd expect better. 'Low-cost' doesn't always mean 'rude service.' The southwesters (southwest airlines) are low cost and they're not rude.
Really quick, may I ask a question?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bee2001 In reply to dastherr65 [2017-09-07 05:28:48 +0000 UTC]

Ben: Well of course. Maybe at times it is the planes themselves are rude. And what's the question?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dastherr65 In reply to bee2001 [2017-09-07 13:33:21 +0000 UTC]

Guess that's right. So my question is: what is your least favorite part of your job?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bee2001 In reply to dastherr65 [2017-09-07 13:46:11 +0000 UTC]

Ben: Well.. I work as an airliner for Garuda and I also work as a part time independent tour guide. Which both of them need me to work by flying people. So they're basically the same and have the same problems as well. First, there's always that annoying or rowdy passenger. Sometimes violent passengers. Fortunately, both me and my pilots have authority to get rowdy passengers off me. Second, bad weather. I don't mind rain, but if it's a storm, I don't like being thrown here and here by mother nature. Third, just plain rude pilots.

dastherr65 In reply to bee2001 [2017-09-07 14:01:34 +0000 UTC]

that's some things to put up with. Ooh! You ever think about working for a freight company instead? I think Dhl might work out.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bee2001 In reply to dastherr65 [2017-09-07 14:10:38 +0000 UTC]

Ben: I haven't thought about it... But maybe not... I've quite enjoyed working as an airliner.. I really like to see kids just smiling widely seeing me and the fact that they really like flying... I've met good passengers and great pilots, especially my current one.. I won't be changing course..... And also rumors that the conversion process is rather troublesome.

Huh, that's true. What kind of reaction would a box give compared to a person? Sorry if I've been taking your time up Ben,but here's one final question. What was the longest flight you've ever taken?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bee2001 In reply to dastherr65 [2017-09-07 15:29:53 +0000 UTC]

Ben: Nothing.. And as for the longest flight I've taken? Probably the Jakarta-Jayapura route.
