Thank you for this special comment to me, it made me very happy.  Yes, I like drawings/paintings that make an impact on me emotional. And, I I like/love to draw subjects that evoke a special feeling inside me. If I can convey it through my artwork to others it is great, really great for me. Thanks again, and have a good day today.

Thanks Noir for the kind words around one of my artworks, very much appreciated!

Yes, this one, I myself also like much, but mostly because I can feel with her ( the subject ). I often have more enthusiasm and strong motivation when drawing/painting subjects that evoke a feeling inside me. And with stronger feelings I get, the more motivated I get.

I remember that, it was fun to draw on a black paper, to make the reverse that I am so used to, it was fun to draw the light and not shaddows. But otherwise, of course I saw that she was sad, and often wonder what was the situation for her in that moment. With the titel I try to give words to what I apprehend as what happens, that she is sad in a silent room for herself. That is how I perceived the subject and the picture/artwork in whole. I never did understood why she is/was sad, the cause, but I think the sadness is more profound, the reason, and not just something ephemeral and trivial.

That is a very nice comment of you Katy !  Thanks !   Yes, this is one of my favourites myself, mostly for the reason you mention above..

I love art that affect me emotionally, it make me stay longer near it, I feeling something, maybe wondering of something, and I love to do so, much.

Thanks Lucila! for your comment on my pastel drawing.  It was fun to use a black paper and not just white all the time, little variation. To draw the surfaces where the light  reflects, and not only draw shadows. Little variation as saying. Thank you!

Thanks Sara for all the kind words upon my drawing !  I'm glad you like it.

I try to take on subjects that evoke a feeling in me (often a facial expression or a painting that gives a sense of a bygone era, like your still life painting that I favored). Or that the subject evokes a feeling within others, or both.

I do not know why but I think it was pretty easy to draw this drawing. I think,  if I feel  with the subject much then it becomes easier to draw it ( increased motivation . One thing I noticed however was  that even small amounts of pastel in the wrong place meant that it quickly became apparent. Gradation of gray tones became very important.

You know this is the core of Indian Aesthetic theory, according to the theory, if you are able to convey (or like you said something that evokes feeling in you and through your painting into another person) your art is successful.
I always love the art which has emotions and feelings attached to it whether it is a song, a painting, a photograph you know anything. For example whenever I do a portrait of someone I love, it is always better than the one I do when someone else asks me to draw.
Quite true, when you feel with the subject maybe it does not become easier, maybe its just that you enjoy it more

yes ! it does not become easier as you say (Logically, it should not be easier ). But I think I forget time and space, so I do not experience it as a burden to add the necessary time.

It's nice that you see something other than just a portrait, really. If you want or know what you are seeing more than a portrait so please let me know.

I try to draw subjects that give a feeling because it motivates me, also I  like if I can feel with my subject, something anyway. There are exceptions to the above, where the subject is perhaps unusually fine or it has for me some  inner value of some kind, then I can also try to paint or draw it.

You make good art as well, so I +Watch you and can therefore follow it. I will watch your gallery more thoroughly soon. Thanks.

Really? Well that's surprising, because when I generally checked your art, I think you have a remarkable skill and very enjoyable style to watch. I liked both your traditional drawings and painting, and photography very much, and I hope to see more in the future. It's not easy to stand out from a crowd, but luckily we all have our own taste, and so we're allowed to follow those of our likes ^^

Thanks Minna, very kind word. I have not draw since I was a child. But my father and mother was skilful, sooo... anyway. For some reason, I am fearless when it comes to art, so I'm not considering  if I can or can not do it,  I just do it. maybe that's it, and that I put down the time needed to be satisfied, that enables it goes pretty well.

I will do a drawing of Laura Branigan, soon. A former singer. She passed away prematurely in 2004.

In that case I am very happy to hear that you've found your passion to art again! It would had been such a terrible waste if you hadn't found your interest in drawing again. And maybe that's partly a reason why I enjoy your art so much: as it looks easy and flawless, it might be that all that comes from your fearless attitude towards art. If you're too clung to technical part of art, or if you're afraid or over competitive, I'm sure the art will lose it's liberating beauty.

I'll look forward for that Laura Brannigan piece!

I love the atmosphere of this drawing, it looks just like an old photograph. You did well with drawing with white pastel (must be difficult drawing the light parts instead of darker parts...). She looks just beautiful.

What fun that you mention it, I think just the opposite, really. I think that everything is dark and then I put the pastel on the illuminated areas, depending on how the light reflects on the subjectet. Almost like to sculpt a figure, though in 2 dimensions.

I should try this technique one day and then I'll be able to say more It's just that I'm used to pencils and drawing the shades. But I like your point of view, it may help.

I want to add something. When I talk about  it's fun to paint with white on black paper, that apply  when the majority of the subject is black, not otherwise. The use of colored paper (or black, white, brown, gray) is an advantage, I think, when the subject ( + background ) one should paint / draw is mostly in the same color as the paper, otherwise not.

 Less work more fun

I follow for Xianon' works. He's a great artist and it's hard to objectively look at other people's work. But your picture have emotions. This is the most important thing. I could not skip the picture and leave it unnoticed. Great job!

BeironAndersson In reply to MadlenLafayette [2014-02-12 00:42:20 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much for your comment, it was very kind . I drew the drawing  some different than the original. partly because I had a very bad printing as subject, but also because it just became so. At one point I wondered if I should depict photographic (an old habit), but then I realized it's the nice thing about painting/drawing to make one´s "own" (some anyway) version, so I contented myself with that I laid out on DA.

Just like you, I love to paint something that gives a feeling inside (and it doesn't have to be photographic always)

totally agree! Sometimes dream about a photographic illustration which will be identical to the original. But then you realize that the magnetism of the picture is not in the exact imitation, but in the emotions. Of course, the technique is very important. But I saw so many soulless, well-drawn pictures.

BeironAndersson In reply to MadlenLafayette [2014-02-12 11:34:35 +0000 UTC]

I could not have said it better myself. and agree with you in soulless pictures. I think that  an advantage if one does not draw photographically is that it hands over a portion to the imagination, I think our brains need it too. The obscure and/or sublime somehow.

I agree with you. The interesting thing about working from black to white is,  well.. I think like this: a model sitting, standing etc. in a dark room and depending on where the light is shining from, and in what intesity , but also color, you as an artist put it there on the black paper ( the symbol of no light ), it feels logical some how.

Thx for taking my art work to your collection

I discovered that there was a big difference if only very little white pastel came across the black paper. The tones were important. I also used a warm white light when I photographed the artwork, otherwise it would have been more white of course.

I like to try different subjects and methods. This was one of them. Thanks

BeironAndersson In reply to optissus [2013-12-17 17:55:25 +0000 UTC]

I understand. It becomes almost an art in the art. The light ( color, intesity, angel, multiple sources ? )is very important. To photo at a right angle to the painting, as well as in the center. It is always an advantage if you have different format on the camera to choose, although there are opportunities cropping the photo (ie. painting) on the computer. Avoid light angels that gives shadows and reflections in the image. Light reflected from a wall tend to be the best ( I think ), but requires stronger lighting. Last this is the best of my understanding, I am far from a professional. thx
