Description
finally finished this A3 graphite portrait and i am so so pleased with how it's turned out!this was my first time doing such a detailed piece on an A3 scale and it was so much fun and a lot nicer than drawing on A4 because i could fit so much more detail in
hope you like it too!
commissions like this are open, note me for more info
sorry for not being active recently - this has been a major time stealer plus i have been teaching myself how to draw people, but the results aren't good enough to post here yet :')
see you guys soon, i have a digital piece and my secret santa gift to come before christmas is over and now i have finished uni until january i should have more time for art!
update - Abi (Bright-Button ) was kind enough to edit this for me to make it look more like it does in real life! Thank you

Beautiful! There's so much detail in this, I can imagine it took so much time to do.

my whole life (and i'm 18!)
i began drawing super realistic equine portraits about a year ago - before that i was doing more full body and occasionally coloured pencil work ^^

That's awesome, I've been drawing for a few months, and I'm kinda stuck 😅

thank you!
graphite HB-9B pencils (just cheap ones from WHSmith) with a H pencil to do the really light bits. i use a 2B mechanical pencil for most of the detail like all the hairs ^^

This is so gorgeous! Your traditional pieces literally improve by miles every single time you do one, it's really incredible.
I hope you don't mind, but because this drawing is so gorgeous I thought it deserved to be properly edited to show off all that amazing detail - so I quickly touched it up in photoshop for you :3 you don't have to do anything with it, I just wanted to see it in all it's glory - photo's never quite do the real work justice! <33

thank you so much Abi! i really try and push myself with each new piece, so i'm happy you've noticed an improvement
ahh thank you!! at uni i don't have my scanner so had to rely on the photo so it didn't come out as well, but your edit looks amazing! i can never get it bright without ruining the detail of the shading - how did you edit is so nicely?
if you don't mind, would i be able to upload your edit please? (with credit ofc!) it definitely looks more eye-catching ^^

You're welcome! I absolutely have, you're clearly putting so much time and effort into it and it shows <3
Haha that's okay! I usually use my phones camera despite having a scanner, I'm too impatient to set it all up XD I adjust the levels, brightness and contrast in various orders (just play around with it haha) until I've got the white as white as possible and the pencil looks like the real drawing. It's best to get the white nearly white, because then you don't loose too much of the detail in the drawing. And then get the dodge tool on highligh, around 20% I think, and use a large feathered brush to make the white actual white. You can control it better using the dodge tool
And of course you can use it! I don't mind at all haha, and no credit needed it's just a little edit work <3

wowww, that's dedication!! I have to finish anything I work on within a week otherwise i completely lose track of it. So many lunches have been missed over finishing art XD
You're welcome! Next time I have one to edit or if you need one doing, just give me a shout and I'll try and screen record it so you can see what I do

yup, i did it in my first term at uni between everything i had going on! it's why i'm so slow at uploading, because if i have two big projects going on at once i will lose motivation for one of them and give up completely
ty, you're a gem!
