You know.This picture makes me feel real sorry for Zero and Shadow.Iris and Maria's deaths had broken them emotionally and scarred their souls and thoughts(some may say a fate worse than death).Really depressing.

Luckily we havent seen the last of her.Iris appears in Project x Zone as a cameo character and shes still very much alive(unless im missing somethong).The only cameo characters in the game are her and a ghost girl from ".hack"(dot hack).

Well that's a just a cameo role shes alive in it but it's non canon so she'd still technically be dead in the MMX continuity.

Here's a little info I gathered from the site.And I find it sad that she dissapears in the end(Damn you Vile!):
Project X Zone
"Iris appears in the crossover RPG as an event character. She makes her only direct appearance in Chapter 29 (èČ ăăȘăăæ Makenai Ai) of the game.
With X and Zero shocked to see Iris alive and well, X recognizes her as the younger sister of Colonel, and "the girl from that Repliforce incident", which suggests that the events of this chapter take place after Mega Man X4.[2]
Still wishing to live in a Reploid only world together with Zero, he reminds Iris that such a world is nothing more than an illusion, but is then asked by her if a Reploid only world is meant to be his purpose and desire, part of the reason why Iris is present. Afterwards, Zero suffers an emotional breakdown, pondering about whether or not a Reploid only world was really the reason he was fighting for, with Vile taunting him for getting emotional over a girl's wish, claiming that the latter was exactly the same as the former before.
Confused about Iris at first, the other characters present then realize that Zero is in trouble, and that they and X must protect him from danger, while attempting to defeat Vile at the same time. The game splits the winning conditions down to two options: reach Zero within the next nine turns or defeat Vile, otherwise a game over will be declared. Until then, X's unit is paralyzed and unable to fight.
After the defeat of Vile at the hands of the other fellow protagonists, Zero eventually recovers from his emotional breakdown and recalls his duty as a Hunter, and tells Iris that a Reploid only world is impossible. Aura from .hack appears and encourages Zero to move on and not give up; she also mentions that Iris and her feelings are not supposed to be present, hence causing her to fade away, after bidding farewell to Zero.
Iris is mentioned again by X in Chapter 37, where the latter comments about Vile using her back in The World, as well as how he hurt Zero emotionally."

Well, my under-construction fic has a young eight-year-old boy (who, by the way, is a distant grandcousin of Dr. Light) rebuild Iris! Yes, you heard me--rebuilds Iris! Zero won't stop smiling for DAYS!

ANYONE can make a Mega Man X fanfiction. The masters find a way to make it fit in the official canon timeline.

Sadly, yes, Iris did die at the end of X4. Weird, I've never played the game and I know that much. XD;

Wierd, I've never played Sonic games and yet I know almost as much as the gamer fans.
(Correction: I've played Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles but it was when I was about... five? I don't remember much about it except the theme tune and I loved Sonic because he's blue)
