Where do your Evoloons live? In a house? In a tree? In a cave? Sleeping under the stars? Somewhere else?

First I want to thank all the lovely people that visited me in the various streams I put up over the week and kept me company, chatting and streaming right along with me into the wee hours! Love you sweet people <3 RIP the spiders of the kitchen floor.

Haven't done a prompt in such a long time, but I was going to draw the Sundance ship anyway so this seemed well enough a time as any! Maybe one day I'll draw out some blueprints of the different levels in the ship, but today is not that day XD It was a delight to draw the cheery kids in their tropical home again <3

Our home, the stranger asked? Immediately, Fishhook felt small paws on their back and shoulders as Twine eagerly climbed over them, chattering endlessly about the wonders of their home. The bay with crystal-blue waters with its peaceful waves lapping softly at the shore; the dark, porous rocks that lay scattered about the light sandy beaches, the shallow rock pools as the waters receded.
“There are so many starfish!” she exclaimed. It was true – starfish, urchins, clams, seagrasses and algae, barnacles; even the occasional stray fish or even once an octopus. They were delicious.

She continued to chatter on about the jungles before them. Full of fruit of all kinds, trees to climb and leap from and vines to play with.

“So many hidden treasures in the jungle just waiting to be found!” she chirped.

Fishhook could not help but to twitch an ear. They knew that Twine had not forgotten, but knew that she tended to get overexcited about these things. In the back of their mind, Fishhook would always remember the menace that had so wounded Twine’s Split. There were not just treasures hidden among the dense foliage.

Fish felt the pattering of six small paws on their back and haunches as the young loonling Atlantis, their little sister, joined Twine on their perch. Fishhook huffed good-naturedly. Atlantis pretended to be well-behaved, but all loonlings had some amount of mischief.

As Twine continued to chirp about the place that they claimed the most – the wooden ship that they had found, after Twine demanded an expedition around the bay when they returned from the faraway lands – Fishhook glanced about the faces that surrounded them.

“It’s huge! And it has this great big tall mast that sticks up in the sky – it’s so much fun to climb the ropes all the way to the top! You can see everything from up there!”

Split, who Fishhook had known since almost the time of their hatching. A little quiet, but that had never bothered them. They trusted that the grey-and-white evoloon would always have Twine’s best interests at heart, no matter who was in charge.

“…a hammock! Well, it’s a net, really, and we were going to fill it with coconuts…but it’s so much fun to play and sleep in!”

Atlantis and Nigri, the little evoloons that had hatched on the return to the bay. They were sometimes startlingly alike, for all their differences. Fishhook had been a little apprehensive about their arrival at first – who had ever heard of an evoloon hatching with extra limbs, or a tail that they didn’t have to grow into? – but now, the two were as much a part of the pack as they were.

“There are so many pretty shells and little bits of sea glass and coral. They’re so pretty hanging in the ship!”

And Twine. Their older “sister,” the evoloon that had been there since their hatching. Before, if her stories of magical painted eggs were to be believed. Fishhook had been devoted to her since they hatched.

“…and lanterns on the fore and aft, so that other loons will always know that they have a safe place to stay, if they need it.”

The bay was a good place; Fishhook wasn’t sure that they would ever leave, or want to. Not forever. But glancing among these familiar faces, this family that they were surrounded with – this was home.
