This is how created the Sci-fi character design 'Astro Suit', still not complete..
In this tutorial, Id like you to see what brush I used, my process and the reflection (HDR like) effect from the helmet. So you dont need an image and convert it to HDR, just an illusion/depth of random brushes to create that effect.

and research body armour. learning where to put armour, and how, is pretty important to drawing armour, and it's fairly consistent throughout human history.
also, modern space suits are largely designed with exploratory-/repair-minded EVAs, not combat. keep that in mind.

go to google, search for astronaut suits and alter the design to your liking
