Description

After I did that Backstory Lore character sheet for Mjolnir's mother and sister, I thought I'd do Littlestep's mentor and parents next! I'm really having fun with these. More info may be added as I think of it. Favor to Littlestep!

#03. Strongheart, Senior Warrior of AspenClan

Strongheart was a valiant warrior who grew up in the forests of AspenClan. He was known for not only his great strength and prowess and battle, but also for his saintly patience. When it came time to give the sickly and wimpy Littlekit a mentor, nobody in AspenClan doubted that Strongheart of all cats could whip the little apprentice into shape.

Littlepaw's apprenticeship was a very long one and more than once Strongheart was urged to be a bit harsher with him. At this rate, Littlepaw would graduate months later than the rest of the apprentices his age. Strongheart knew, however, that if he rushed Littlepaw's training it would put too much strain on the young one. When Littlepaw was sick, Strongheart waited patiently to resume their training once he'd recovered. This isn't to say there were times where Strongheart didn't make training difficult on Littlepaw-- many times he put Littlepaw through tests of great endurance to test his perseverance and willpower. There were times where Littlepaw succeeded, and times where he failed, and Strongheart was always there to give him a nudge in the right direction.

There came a time where Littlepaw felt ostracized from his clan due to some bullying and for a while the little one had considered fleeing AspenClan and taking up the life of a housepet. With Lynxpaw's help, Strongheart dissuaded Littlepaw and convinced the tom to come back to his home.

Strongheart chose Littlepaw's warrior name-- Littlestep-- and watched with pride the day the young cat finally earned his warrior name.

When the Calamity struck the land, Strongheart watched destruction ravage AspenClan's camp and shatter the portal to StarClan. He wandered for days, unable to find his clanmates, and succumbed to darkness. Later, Littlestep happened upon Strongheart's ashen and the once-great warrior fell beneath Littlestep's claws.

#04, #05. Rowanwhisper and Mossbelly, Warriors of AspenClan

Mossbelly and Rowanwhisper were both reasonably respected warriors in AspenClan. The two were close in age and had grown up together, sharing the apprentices den and graduating into warriorhood near the same time. The friends had always gotten along well and enjoyed participating in friendly competitions. Rowanwhisper's quiet nature and Mossbelly's louder and more boisterous personality didn't seem to hinder their relationship. Rowan enjoyed listening to Moss' jokes and laugh, while Moss took comfort in spending quiet time with Rowan. It wasn't much a surprise when the two became mates.

Sometime after Rowanwhisper learned that she was expecting kits, Mossbelly had an accident while hunting on the RaggedClan border. He failed to notice the scent of fox in the air and led two back toward AspenClan's camp by mistake. Another passing AspenClan patrol noticed the scent and managed to find Mossbelly before he reached camp, but the group was attacked. Mossbelly was killed in the small battle saving the life of an apprentice, but leaving Rowanwhisper widowed.

Rowanwhisper's grief lasted a long time and Mossbelly's death shook her to her core. She had difficulty taking care of herself and the other queens would have to try and get her to eat. The little hope she had was for her unborn children.

Unfortunately, the day she gave birth, she was still weak. Rowanwhisper gave birth to a single kit and was only able to name him Littlekit before she died.

Rowanwhisper enoyed traveling outside of StarClan's portal during the daytime and visited AspenClan's territory when her spirit was strong enough. She met her son once when he was an older apprentice before the Calamity struck.

Tidbits and Trivia:

- Strongheart was a Maine Coon, Rowanwhisper was a moggy mix (predominantly Cornish Rex) and Mossbelly was a Siamese and Snowshoe mix.

- I had originally written Strongheart as a cold and more cruel mentor, but I liked the idea of him being bright and warm instead.

- Had these three lived long enough to reach Safe Haven, Strongheart would have been a Vanguard, Rowanwhisper a Seeker or Espion, and Mossbelly a Vanguard or Espion.

- Littlestep would have liked to meet Mossbelly's spirit, but for unknown reasons his father didn't leave StarClan very often. Mossbelly would have adored his son, so it was definitely not a lack of love or interest in his offspring.

- It is possible that Littlestep could have had siblings, but they were either never born or were stillborn due to Rowan's weakness.

- Rowanwhisper's suffix comes from her soft spoken nature while Mossbelly's comes from his loud and boisterous personality (as well as voracious appetite).

- If Littlestep had kittens, he would likely name one after Strongheart because of how important his mentor was to his upbringing.

- Rowanwhisper keeps going through name changes. I can't decide on one I really like.
