It's sort of a transcendence I suppose, being completely enshrouded in pain, torment in the physical world, but then breaking through - maybe even because of the pain - breaking through or being caused to transcend to a state of inner ecstasy, euphoria. Perhaps like the pain is all so much that it's just TOO much and so you realize it doesn't even matter anymore. I painted it a long time ago though, but I'm pretty sure it was along these lines.

That's a really amazing concept... pretty close to what I myself perceived when I was looking at it earlier.. I feel like I am going through something comparable to that in my own life right now.
