Description
Dermot and Granya flee from the giant Finn McCool, Granya's husband. They find a hut in the middle of the waste ground and they enter to spend the night. Inside the hut they find an old acquaintance a goblin who offers his hospitality.
To help pass the time the goblin suggests a Chess match and to make it more interesting the goblin suggests a bet: if he wins he keeps the beautiful Granya with him as a prize. If Dermot wins the goblin lets his throat be cut. Dermot accepts for he is a great player who has never lost a match.
The match begins and the goblin wins in just 2 movements, a world record!
So Dermot must leave the hut and shortly after he meets tha giant Finn who asks for her wife. Dermot says that it has been the goblin who kidnapped her and points him at the goblin's hut.
Finn destroys the hut and gets his wife back while the goblin manages to flee from the giant's fury.
Shortly after Dermot finds the goblin while he is running in the wastes and knowing that both of them have more in common than they had thought there begins a beautiful friendship!
