The mysterious intruder. Look familiar?

We can see a new angle on the Earth defense ship. I don't do too many angles, preferring to rely on a single dynamic image that can be reused, rescaled, and recoloured in future pages. You can't tell scale in space - there's no atmospheric perspective (although I've cheated at points) or points of reference - so I'll just tell you: the Earth ship is probably 2-300m long.

The intruder is about 22km in length. See the bridge? You can't - it takes up about 2 pixels at the top of the tower amidships. But it does have a window and beacon lights in the original vector files. I believe in being thorough.

I cheated with the North American coastline visible below. The land is a public-domain satellite image which I manipulated to fit the planetary curve I'd rendered. This is the only time in the comic series that I have used a genuine image to represent an object.

Space is entirely new. The stars were generated from random noise, and the nebular detail is in fact photo textures of water. (Thanks to Image*After for such great free resources!)
