And so they charged... right into a firing line of human musketeers, grenadiers and cannons. Barely any of the orcs survived.

And then the humans charged forward...only to be completely annihilated by the orcs' allies, the goblins, who were armed with machine guns, tanks, and harrier jets.

Then the goblins were defeated by the dwarves, who were armed with power armor and mecha.
And then the dwarves were defeated by the imps who had developed psychic super-soldiers.
And the imps were defeated by the gnomes who had evolved into abstract beings of pure light.
And then the gnomes were defeated by the Elder Gods, who stepped in to end this nonsense once and for all.

It'll be worse if the Orcs are too culturally stubborn, traditional and/or proud to sink to the 'weakling' Humans' level and adapt to using a 'coward's weapon' like gunpowder. They'll keep charging straight into human guns, and they'll run out of bodies to throw at the Humans long before the Humans run out of bullets, bombs and cannonballs.

It won't be a rout, or even a slaughter. It would be bloodbath.Β Only the Orcs who swallow their pride and adapt will survive.

Right on the money--there's a REASON we came to use muskets over swords, despite getting shot in the gut from a few dozen yards not being as "glorious" and "noble" as going down crossing blades.
