Description
Rí na Seilidí (king of snails) is the mount owned, used and trained by Myasma Nettlebrook - a notorious sap trader and nomad of the New Forest. The saddle is Primarily made from Picea abies (european spruce) cone scales and stripped sycamore seeds, stitched together using bullrush and sycamore leaf veins, nettle twine and yew tree sap. The seat is a carved acorn cupule.
The snail is made entirely from translucent polymer clays.
This is only part of a diorama that is now completed… Ri na Seilidi and Myasma Nettlebrook

Wow.. just looked at your profile. I'll probably be flicking to your bark and mushroom pics for reference whilst sculpting the base for this.

Me too… especially in garlic butter on toast with shaved white truffle.
I seriously doubt I'd be able to eat them now that I've been studying them so closely.

Amazing! The first thing I thought when I saw it was - is there a wizard on the shell?! And if you didn't say it's clay, I'd totally believe you it's real!

It'll be sure to be neat when the whole thing's done. ^_^ That snail is awesome, by the way. I was like, 'what's the deal with that snail? Is it alive? Dead?' and then saw where it's mentioned that it's made of clay. O_o ...Is the shell clay, too?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
BenPhillips In reply to AsjJohnson [2014-09-18 17:17:49 +0000 UTC]
it is clay. I thought of using a giant land snail shell but it's the wrong type of shell for what I wanted. The shell and snail is a re-imagining of a Roman Snail; the edible snail crossed with the common snail. Thanks for the 'awesome'!
