I know its rough, mostly because I don't know how to polish it up yet...

Critique welcome! what am I doing wrong? And, more importantly, what am I doing right?

Some backstory for those who care...

This cluster of floating rocks and islands, known as Aeloran Falls, is situated on an air trade route between the Zhae Empire and The Commonweath of Tellius. The rocks are nearly a mile above the sea below, though in the planet's thick atmosphere, breathing is not a problem.

The lighthouse was built during the golden age of the Zhae Empire to warn nightpilots traveling that dangerous route. Today, the lighthouse and surrounding rocks are officially neutral territory, with upkeep being paid for by a joint fund.

The waterfall itself is one of many "Perpetual waterfalls" scatered thoughout the world, though the mecanism by which they operate has eluded scientists for centeries.

Lighthouse keeping is lonely job, the island offers little in terms of recreation, and only two people can occupy the island for any length of time. The islands only outside contact is with a bimonthly supply ship, which brings news, supplies, and amusement. Light keepers often take up painting, sculpture, or music to pass the time The tenure of a light-keeper is typically 15 years, 5 to learn the trade, 5 to keep the light alone, and 5 to teach the trade to the next. After retirement light-keepers receive a modest pension.

Kudos for reading that mindless rambling, I might develop it further, with drawings and stories, or I might scrap it all together, don't get your hopes up ether way.

that's great Ben. something is a bit off but not sure what I'm thinking it must be some of the overhead perspective lines.

I'll dig out some of my art books and see if I can come up with an example showing the direction and angles of the perspectives required and e mail to you.

Good perspective has always eluded me, it would not surprise me if it were off... I did not really try to hard in this image, it started with the waterfall and grew from there.

Please do email the pages to me, I'm not sure how I would even go about setting up the correct perspective for a drawing like this.
