##### INTERACTIVE LIGHT COMPOSITING of this robot here: fav.me/d2qjczv #####
Due to so many helpful critiques that I got for my ROBOT CHIPREADER
I decided to update this artwork. The aim was a high-res “All is full of light”.
I think there was no compound I haven’t touched. For a detailed view and some more information about the process of origination just have a look:
I am quite happy with the result and I hope you like it.

by hand?
You mean that I draw it?
This is a 3D render. Details are in the comment.

A really nice color scheme, nice reflections and that nice finish. Really cool.
Try to bend the fingertips a bit (to make it more human since we tend to over-do "gripping actions") and close the mouth and you'l have a winner!

I am having major difficulty remembering that this is a digital image and not a photograph.
Great job!

well,
good start, but make this render more interesting by:
- adding/modeling more (typical/crazy) details (get inspired here on deviant art)
- adding reflections (use hdri-maps)
- making it more blink-blink (its a robot -> robots always have tiny light sources)
- use depth of field (very important for realistic renders)
- choose another camera view (golden ratio, crazy camera postion)
futher, white parts are to white (face), black parts are to black (eyes)
KEEP ON!

thank you man! you giving me positive feelings) how can i add you as a friend ?) whats the golden ratio cameraq view? and hdri reflections maps are the images yes? something to reflect yes?

you can become a watcher (+deviant watch, top right on my profil)
golden ratio is a common technique in photography and painting. the object of interest is positioned between middle and the side (1/3 of the canvas width). google this and have look at other techniques. even color theory helps a lot to make a render look interesting.
hdri images create a more natural look than simple light sources. they reflect different moods depending of the image you choose. it is even a fast way to create atmospheric reflections.
working with the maxwell render is even like taking a picture with a dslr (thats their slogan). knowing more about photography helps a lot to make good renderings.

tha bodibuilder looks very realistic...but you know there is something too precise in image..i mean the skin perfection...tip of the fingers and rists looks digitall for me from first seconds...good modell and lightning...but i can see that it is 3d in many ways...but it is veery realistic though.i dont like renders of people...like more things like personages, furniture, design things, wallpapers, and so on,gamedesign...

human (organic) rendering is the royal league of photorealistic rendering. until today i havent see a render of a human were i thought it is real (mostly the eyes look fake - like in the body builder picture). but in the last years we are getting closer and closer.
but when you dont like organic renders, good for you!

i made an overview of the workflow (render time, layers,...) here:
[link]
for modeling i used basic modeling, splines, nearly all nurbs-objects,...
detailing and texuring with zbrush
From the former model there is also an overview with mesh details (which was improved and optimized for polygon count a lot)

thank you...i have a question i cant find maxwell and Vray for max 2011....i am using mental ray...and i think its very good, better than vray deffinetley but not as good as maxwell....so can i find maxwell render for max 2011 somewhere?

google it and buy it.
wait until spain wins the football championship then the prices will fall
(nextlimit, the makers of maxwell render, is a spanish company)
i recommend to get a demo a have a look if you get along with the render and fits your requirements.
(e.g.: maxwell render is not the best choice for an animation)
hey, good products should be supported!

yeah good products are good. do you think mental ray is good enough? because it can make photorealistic images too..not like maxwell.but better than vray twice a time
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Bergie81 In reply to RASTERIzE [2010-06-20 21:29:30 +0000 UTC]
mental ray is definitely good enough but its very hard and takes a lot of knowledge to achieve photorealism (especially for organic models).
have a look here of this amazing render (done in mental ray): [link]
Mental Ray is a biased render which cheats to save render time. maxwell render is an unbiased render engine that calculates exact optical physics. therefore, you dont need to cheat and you just a have to push a button to create realistic renders. BUT the calculation needs a lot of rescources and time... .
for a beginner who dont want to mess around with ambient occlusion, global illumination, caustics, hard/soft shadows, ... it is the fastes way to do great renders.
in my opinion it is also a good way to learn more about the rendering itsself because you start with a limited amount of parameters (eg.: material parameter: color,reflection,... up to fresnel).later you use that knowledge to learn other render engines faster.
starting with mental ray from scratch means you have to get along with a lot of (important) parameters that can be very frustrating.
but keep in mind that maxwell render is not very good in standard animations (exept you have a spaceship for rendering)
an image takes around 5 hours on an up to date pc. therefore one second of animation takes 120 hours (5 days)....!!!

Recently, the work that draws the robot is seen. To tell the truth, all designs are much the same.
Most people always draw ..stereotype.. robot. I got tired.
Evaluation ・・・ 34 points.

Well,
thanx for your .... helpful ... comment.
i didnt claim to reinvent the wheel with this work - i am not an professional artist.
By the way this artwork is an adapation of a robot i REALLY build for diagnostic assays (see the comment on the former version) where the compounds proved themselves. Therefore - why should i create a other version?
A lot of things were done in art and cinema concerning the robot theme. Therefore, I am really anxious for YOUR digital interpretation of a non-stereotype robot (your gallery gives not a good hint).
sorry for making you tired
good night
