Fingers crossed everyone! I'm hoping this is a first step into becoming more active with my art again. I've kept my eye on this group since it started and I am so thrilled with the idea of being a part of it!

Kind-Hearted

There is very little Bridgette wouldn't do for another. She is very willing to give of herself before anyone else, especially when she finds someone in need. She will always extend a helping paw, even if there is no benefit to herself. There isn't a mean bone in the girl and she would never think to do anything to harm another. Even working as a hunter can be hard for her, as she has such an aversion to doing harm.

Loyal

Bridgette is incredibly loyal to those she holds close. Since she has a difficult time getting close to others, those she builds strong bonds with have her undying loyalty. This is particularly true for her humans, who she would willingly die for without hesitation. This level of devotion extends to her friends and companions. She would do much to protect and care for those she does not know well too, through bonds of faction or acquaintanceship.

Polite

Very polite and proper, Bridgette is always sure to treat others with the utmost respect. She knows her manners well and uses them even when they may not be called for. Her speech is very proper and appropriate and she rarely even slouches. She believes that manners make a canine, or at least they make an impression on those they meet, and she is very concerned with making a positive impression.

Soft-Spoken

Bridgette is very selective in her words. She speaks in a way that is very calculated, but not in a cold or cruel way. She is always careful to say what she means and not be misunderstood. Her voice is gentle and soft, and many dogs would think she barely speaks above a whisper. Bridgette prefers listening to others and watching how they behave. Very few have heard her speak more than a handful of syllables.

Skittish

While a gunshot doesn't cause her to bat an eye, Bridgette seems to be terrified of nearly everything else. The girl is incredibly skittish. Loud noises, dark corners, and unfamiliar creatures or canines all set her on the defensive. She is very submissive and flighty when even the slightest thing in her world is out of order. Even dogs who are simply too abrasive can cause her to become panicky and will lead her to attempt to extract herself from the situation.

Timid

Bridgette is very timid and shy. She will almost never initiate a conversation or interaction, even with dogs she knows relatively well. Bridgette will nearly always submit to a more dominant dog when it comes to making decisions and will always choose to follow rather than lead. When wronged or slighted, Bridgette will submit and defer to the dog or person who is the aggressor, always more concerned with seeking peace over justice when it comes to herself.

Backstory: Bridgette was born on a farm in the emerald hills of Ireland. One in a little of 11, she was often overlooked by her mother and siblings. A rambunctious bunch, Bridgette often found herself pushed to the side or run over by the group. They were owned by an elderly gentleman who had been an expert hunter in his youth and was spending his twilight years breeding his favorite hunting dogs. Her mother had been an exquisite gun dog, the perfect setter. Her father was a champion of his bloodline. But Bridgette? She was always too flighty and skittish. The other pups excelled and Bridgette fell further and further behind. The gentleman noticed the girls lack in confidence and decided she wasn't worth trying to train. Aside from learning not to fear the sound of a gun, Bridgette was not trained further, and would watch her siblings learn their trade.

And watch she did. Bridgette observed and practiced on her own, among the fields and hills. She learned the scent of every creature that wandered their home. Learned to track for miles. She always came home late, and the man never seemed to mind. While her siblings were out training with their master, rough housing and playing with each other, Bridgette was learning from the land. At the age of 6 months, the pups were all tested. Each did very well, testing above the average as was expected in this test, as to be assumed from such an experience breeder.

Then it was Bridgette's turn. The man did not originally want to test her, but his wife had insisted, so she was taken out by his younger cousin who was in town visiting the family. Bridgette excelled far above what was expected of her, even better than her siblings. The realization of this feat from a dog he had barely trained angered the man. He had missed out on her potential, believing her to be a useless, fearful dog, and the other men at the trial began to deride him for it. In order to save him from further embarrassment, the cousin offered to take Bridgette home with him, to be his hunting dog on his far. The old man agreed, to angered with himself and knowing he would take it out on the dog.

And so, Bridgette was brought to Canidale, so be a hunting dog for the Irish farmer and his three sons on their small farm. It would be a simple life, unlike the competitions and large hunts the rest of her siblings would experience, but it would suit Bridgette just fine. She always preferred the calm to the open world around her to the business of the competition hunt.
