It's Kup. Or how I tried to draw him, hurhur. Whatever.Yes, he's smoking. I just adore the whole thing IDW did with him and his...well, regulator thing. Though basically here, it's just some weird implement like a cigar that's probably infused with some funky version of Energon.
I don't know, don't ask me about the crap in my head. I'm ruining you.
Anyway just look at 'ole grungey coot and forget I said anything.

well..its alot more easy to understand if you read TF: Spotlight Kup and also AHM Coda: Everything in its Right Place. But i'll explain.
The cy-gar is actually a synthesised form of the Solar-charged crystal radiation that Kup became addicted to when he was stranded*. And it serves as a flashback suppressent of sorts. It dosn't overwhelm him or investigate any negitive or behavioural patterns. It satisfies his craving without making it worse. (*Spotlight Kup)
So basically is he looses it, that would be bad

The funny thing is, I have both those books that explain that, LOL. Which is why I mentioned "adoring" the idea in the IDW verse, though I all ready knew it was to regulate the addiction he received on that planet with the crystals.
But thank you for that. That issues was pretty brutal for the Spotlight.
In any event, this is just my take on him, as most of the other characters i've been dabbling around with for an AU. Just fan expression, nothing more, I just like the idea that they have their own little versions of cigar/cigarettes being the intelligent creatures that they are. But then again, it's probably just adding a little more human influence on my part. I tend to do that a lot, as i've noticed others do the same.

Yes! A cigar-smoking autobot--brilliant. He's got that EFF U expression (which are always the funnest to draw, second to evil smirks). And I find drawing mech bodies (that don't look like a stack of cardboard boxes or the Michelin man) difficult to design. >xD

Hehe, yes. I love that aspect they added to him in the IDW verse with the Cy-gar, though i'm a tard and usually just dabble in my own fanon-verse and just idealize the thought that perhaps Cybertronians have their own form for smoking or something as a pass time, like the boozey energon they tend to consume. I have such a weird concept on things...urgh. Though if I do draw him based on actual fan art, i'd probably be stuck with this set up too.
