Description
Changed his head to try and better fit the aesthetic. The other one was a little to detailed, if that makes sense. So I went with something more simple. I fudged around with that for who knows how long but oh well.Lines in traditional, flats in Photoshop. Now horrible rendering upon his face can commence.
His colors are based on Soundwave - that placement took a bit to fiddle with. He is probably just a bit darker so he can go sneaking around the neighborhoods and back alleys and whatever else he'd probably do when he's not being a motorcycle something or another.
And yes his butt cannons are gone. Just pretend they can pop out of his back. Also tentacles (like Soundwave's) in his chest but obviously he doesn't prance around with them like a weirdo. Only when stealing things out of hightech stuff I guess.

Thank you for that! And yeah, I had to play around with the design mostly with his head the most, but the finished image came out pretty decent to keep that feline face and still make him a robo crazy thing. I pretend anyway...

I appreciate that! And well, ever play with the levels? If you work with traditional and then scan it in, in Photoshop to clean up the lines using ctrl+l will bring up a window that will allow you to sharpen the black, white, and gray.

Loving the lineart and finished version (I never noticed his tires were tucked into his body like that and I like that detail), but I'm kinda on the fence about the coloring job.
I love the mix of black and blue throughout his color scheme since it's all dark, but there's enough subtle color with the blue that it helps break up the idea that he's not one pointy mass of black spikes.
The only thing bugging me here is the glow, specifically how many glowy parts there are. It looks great on the underarmor (like near his hindquarters) and around subtle 'highlighted' spots (like on the cheek, that black shoulder piece, and his 'wrists') but a loud part of me wants to jump up and yell: "RAVE KITTEH" because I think it'd be hard to sneak around with so much glowing going on.

Thanks on the lines! As for the colors-
A friend of mine had brought up something about the darkness being like his old G1 self, which was just that black and gray look he had. As far as he is concerned at this point, I haven't put his rendered "lighting" on. If I need to change the colors later on, the way I have them all placed and cut will make it easier. I tend to just work with the images as I go - with some, like Elita 1, she was a completely different color scheme in some places when I started on her flats and her colors changed by the time I got around to actually rendering her lighting. Basically, my flat colors are just the basis for how I start to alter them as I go. It is very probable by the end of this image that he'll be some weird shiny shade of blue and purple depending on how I play my hues and contrasts card.
As for the glow - Soundwave is sporting a lot of rave-lights as well. With Ravage, when he's out and about the lights fade to nothing so he doesn't blow his cover. I had thought about this with him and Howlback when I was trying to figure out how to conceptualize their designs - though her colors are different as are the pipping. I may just mess with the hues on Ravage here when i'm done with him and have her with him when I finish.
