"Seh-lect your play-air"Remember those old days of Mario Kart 64? The days before there was like 40 something characters in the game and people would complain because so and so was missing? I don't remember anyone ever complaining about the roster in Mario Kart 64, it was great. A small roster, yet it had all the important characters at the time, good stuff. Mario Kart 64 is probably the most nostalgic Mario Kart game for me. I remember playing countless hours of the game as a kid, doing all kinds of game breaking short cuts, playing grand prix over and over again, and even sometimes plugging in a second controller just to check out the battle mode, it was great! Who was your favorite character? Mine was Luigi of course
Man, this was a really big drawing to make, I've been workin' on it on and off for like a month while making other drawings in between. I'm glad it's finally done though, I hope the quality of the shading and such didn't suffer too much because of how long it took, I was really exhausted by the end it it.

The Japan version has the same character names but Koopa (Bowser), D. Kong (DK) and Kinopio (Toad).

Great job at making this look like it did in-game while also giving the characters all those various, fitting expressions! You should consider drawing Bowser again in the future, btw! :y

I remember this game. But what I remember is hating the physics and the rubberbanding AI. And I’m glad the later games fixed these issues. Mainly so I never have to play this game again.

Wow, you really summed up the whole of MK64 in a paragraph. Especially the bits about the rubber banding being ludicrous. Even as a kid I managed to figure out how they worked, it was just so obviously cheating, lol.

I'll be honest, the 'crap handling' part has something to do with my poor skills as a Mario Kart player, but the AI does still cheat. They can suddenly get a boost of speed that lets them go about a quarter of the track ahead, will not spin out if an item hits them off-screen and will snap back no matter how big a shortcut you can take. That said, it's a hoot to play with friends, and was a very enjoyable game overall.

Yeah, it was quite stiff, it was like impossible to do some turns without an inside drifting bike. Probably the weakest in the series in terms of control imo, that said I don't hate the game, I like all the Mario Karts.
