Description
I decided to make a second version of this pic, except this time with Magikoopa from all the beta footage of Mario Kart 64. Β I find it really strange that they had him in the game of all characters at one point before being replaced with DK, but what I find even more odd is how he's still yet to make a playable appearance in a Mario Kart game to this date. Here's the original version...

Actually, the reason why Wario's in the roster for Mario Kart 64 is because he stole Koopa Troopa's Kart and repainted it.

Oh typical Wario and his antics

So, shouldn't Koopa be in Wario's place here?

Believe it or not, this was originally NOT a Nintendo 64 game, but rather a SNES game that would've used the FX chip Star Fox and Star Fox 2 used. I wonder how that would've looked since Star Fox and Star Fox 2 had bare-bones 3D polygonal graphics.

Wow, I never knew that. Where'd you hear that from?

Yep. I've remembered wrongly. It was actually Super Mario 64 that was originally a Super FX game. It was called Super Mario FX.

Okay, that must've been me having misheard something. What I do know is, back in 1995, the game was called Super Mario Kart R, with "R" standing for "rendered."

Ah yes, that I do know, that's when it had Magikoopa in the old footage as well.

Yeah I would really like to see Kamek (or Magikoopa) appear in the next Mario Kart.
But we'll probably get "Lime Green Steel Luigi" and "Mexican Mario" (Mario wearing a poncho and sombrero) instead. LOL

Lol, I know right? They always pick some odd characters for games these days.

Totally.
Hopefully this changes in Mario Kart 9.Β
Where I can play as Kamek, Hammer Bro., Boom Boom and heck even Plessie.

I agree on all of the execpt Plessie. Plessie would be more suitable as a Kart just like Jaxi and Wiggler, while Glydon should be suitable as a glider. But I respect your opinion as well as everyone elses'.

If Honey Queen, who is even larger than Plessie can fit into a kart, then I see no issue with Plessie participating in the race.
Wiggler was also playable in Mario Kart 7, so why is he now suddenly not suitable?

I'm still holding out on him appearing in a future title. I don't even care much for Magikoopa and I want him in.

It is also curious that originally, Hammer Brother, Petey Piranha, and I don't remember which other character, were originally playable for Mario Kart Wii, but later got scrapped. At least Petey was a playable character, even if only once; in Mario Kart Double Dash!!. Now, if they make a real 9th installment in the Mario Kart series (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is just an advanced version, with pre-installed DLC from the original Mario Kart 8, and also some more functions), I wish I could use Kamek!
Anyway, this does bring up nostalgia. I was born and brought to the videogame world in the GameCube era, but I have seen stuff from the older consoles (especially regards the Mario Kart series). Even the detail is close to be game-like.

The 3rd character scrapped from Mario Kart Wii was Paratroopa

Thank you for reminding me. At least he also got the chance, even if just in Mario Kart Double Dash!!

What?! Magikoopa, or Kamek, was replaced by DK in this classic? And has never been a playable character?! Lousy Nintendo cheapskates! I'd love to use Magikoopa, or Kamek! What would he use, like a broomstick or something? Ergh, Nintendo has been a scammer as of late. First the false promise of getting a SNES mini, and now this?!

Given that Rare had temporary control over Donkey Kong after the release of Donkey Kong Country, Nintendo had to replace Donkey Kong Jr. as a result. Magikoopa was considered until Rare permitted Nintendo to use Donkey Kong (as they owned the design), so DK took Magikoopa's place.

*sigh* It still would've been nice to see him race, though; it kinda makes the most sense. Although I'll take back what I said about the SNES Classic, I still think the big N is a big cheapskate, even for this year's E3 and the choices for Smash. I've made a rant about it recently, and I don't buy a single leak they're saying. I may be jumping ship since they were promising, but w/ very few games. And don't get me started on a new F-Zero or a Starfox Grand Prix..!
