Description
Went down to another waterfront setting today, and the weather was again perfect. This is one of my faves from the shoot.
Models: Nicola and Max, my sister and nephew
technical:
I again challenged myself with just a tripod and my Olympus Camedia C-350 Zoom.
No filters, and the only post-processing was a little levels work, to make the silhouettes really black. Sky unaltered

Well thank you very much. This one is very close to my heart. It really does help bring back memories of parental bonding. Thanks so much for your positive words

This is very touching. I really like the composition and the fact that they are silhouettes; it gives it a more melancholic feel. I really love this. You have captured the concept really well so good thinking, and nice skill in not exposing for the subjects.

Yeah, the emotion does come through on this one for me, though to be honest, the exposure wasn't compensated for by me, it was a digital automatic, not manual, and it almost got it right, just needed a little levels work

excellent.
the lighting is gorgeous, obviously, and i like
how the woman is dead center of the brightest spot of light.
even the ponytail adds so much.
great capture.

I can't believe how fluky this shot was. They weren't standing still and I hadn't inteneded for that, but the best shots are accidents.

Fanstastic silhouette shot, mostly because of the figures themselves, I really like seeing the interaction between the two, far more interesting than the hackneyed 'solitary figure'.

Simply beautiful
The golden colour of the sky is really nice,
and the silhouetted people and rocks give this photo just enought black to stand out and look effective
This photo has a really nice, warm feel to it as well...
The simple, white border also makes this shot stand out and look mroe effective
Beautiful capture

Well thanks very much. Sunsets are something of a rareity here in the UK, so I was quite lucky to get one quite as good as this.

The colors are amazing and spectacular. A shot well worth waiting for. I find it beautiful that she appears to be lead by the child, by the innocent..as if leading the stronger person to a place unknown; however, that will also make you wonder, who is truly stronger, for strength is not only in muscle, but much much more! I think I think too much

Not at all. This is exactly the kind of thing I was getting at, as hinted by the title. The child is often so much more knowledgeable and powerful than the adult...something we should all remember from time to time.
Thanks for your ample comment

Thank you for actually reading and taking my thoughts into consideration, as I find that I think too much at times, usually complicating things. That was my first impression as it is truly beautiful.

Lovely reds, well controlled highlights and pin sharp edges to the silloettes. Amazing mate. My only minor complaint is the fact you left me very little to critisize.
Shame.
That really spoilt the deviation for me...

Consider it an "extended leave"... I could never give up on this site - just been really busy so not really managed to get much done on here - plus I feel guilty for all the time I DO spend on here when I do.
DA.
I'll never fully recover from the addiction...

Not my cup off tea this one, I find it too manufactured and posed. As a viewer it does not evoke emotion like your picture of the two swans. Probably make a good advertising picture though.

The cheese factor is terrible here granted, but I am happy with the way it turned out. Must get another shot like this with a bit more emotion, and less posed.

wow! I'd be so incredibly proud if my brother produced a shot of this like me, or even one of my nephews and sisters. I think you really did a great job capturing that guidance and security that parents, especially mothers offer. Probably one of my favorite pieces of yours. This is absolutely fantastic.
