Description
10x8 linocut on natural canvas with oil-based block printing ink Time: 4-5 hours
I was supposed to have this finished by Christmas for one of my friends but wasn't able to finish it until now due to family functions and illness. I decided to go a different route and try to print onto fabric. I didn't know exactly how it would turn out. I was a little put off with how it turned out at first because it wasn't a solid finish like I would get on paper. After getting some second opinions and looking at it with fresh eyes, I'm starting to like how distressed it looks. I might explore more fabric based prints in the future.Β

I agree with loving the distressed look, especially since this is Zecora and gray is one of her natural colors.

wohooo printmaking~~~ Nice linocut, I like the way you managed to incorporate little details into it like the shades in the mane or the iris of the eye. I also like the effect linocut has on fabric, you're right about the feel of it. Β
P.S. I personally use silk screen for all my printing efforts because either way, the colours come out solid.

Thanks!
I love silkscreening. I just don't have the space for it at the moment so linocut is the next best thing. I also love the process of carving out the design. It's very calming and therapeutic to me.Β

Yeah, I took a printmaking class in college and screen printing was one of the things we did. Made myself a couple t-shirts.Β
As far as linocut goes, I can put some music on and lose myself carving out the block. Printing the block takes some elbow grease (unless you have a press), but once I get in a rhythm it's pretty nice.Β

I really love how you did this one on canvas! It really fits Zecora's feel well. Very technically well executed, too!
