Description The ancient road stretches ahead of you leading further into the dark wood ...

Another dungeon floor plan for use in fantasy gaming. This one is for forests - perhaps jungles too. (more forest environments to follow, clearings etc.)

You print several of these out onto to card, crop them closely and overlap separate pieces to make a maze of paths. See [link] for example of play use. It's not perfect but it sort of gets the job done.

This is for DMs who like their forest maps to operate like dungeons. The foliage itself is impenetrable or hampers movement to such an extent that they may as well be walls.

I'm trying to develop a fast colouring in style - in case you were wondering why it is all a little slap dash.

Pencil, then fine line pen on paper.
+colours in PSP8.

(apologies to for submitting these in drawings / illustrations - I welcome to alternative category suggestions - origami - paper cut-outs? )

Edit: in use - two monsters on a path: [link]

I like the forest floor. Do you travel when drawing the floor plans? Can you smell the mossy ground? This one is my favourite. Nice bushes. Ilke the social features rocks and barrels for people to sit and have a chat. If only I had any idea of how these plans were actually used then I might not say, 'how nice it is to sniff the air, have a wander and a ponder in your floor plan places.' Am I a tosser or is this what gamers do? I should imagine they are task orientated rather than keen on the ambience. Let me know.

Thanks for making Mr H famous.

Who knows what goes through the minds of role-players?

H was a good subject.

Ooh I see what you mean about putting them together (with the overlapping). That's really clever!

I like the way the squares are still defined, but not immediately obvious. Twigs all the way!

Erm, eys. I like this

Twigs will be the delineators!

(I'm sure the overlapping isn't my idea - I think it's very similar to something I saw in the 80's ...)

I think I've seen it elsewhere too, but that doesn't mean it's not a good idea. I don't think I've seen you use it before.

This looks very nice, and I think it's easier to see the grid in this than it was in the barrow drawing...
I think you should make some forest road turns and crossroads, so it will be possibel to make a HUGE forest with lots and lots of different paths... all filled to the brim with goblins and other forest dwelling creatures from the MM

ps. I chopped a couple of these up last night, it's amazing what you can do with just this piece - edges of clearings, crossroads etc. - not perfect but it's a start.

I love this modern age of endless print outs!

I've recently gotten my claws on a set of the official D&D Dungeon Tileset III: Hidden Crypts (You can find it somewhere under products [link] ), and while they look absolutely stunning, I think your tiles are great too. You have a very unique style and it just fits with D&D.
I haven't gotten to play with my tiles yet, but I'm gonna make up a real nasty dungeon from them
Once you've made some more different types of tiles I'll most likely end up using them instead of the official ones 'cause a) You have a very unique style that I really like and b) The D&D products aren't cheap and they aren't available many places here in dk (I think i got the only one they had at the gaming store I usually shop in)

And yes, dire wolves and (nasty) elves are a must in any forest...

One last thing: In the official tileset there is quite a lot of tiles with stuff like alters, pools, magic circles, statues, collums and all kinds of stuff like that. You should consider make a sheet just with stuff like that...

Aarrgh! Don't tell me about cool new products which I'm just going to HAVE to purchase for "research" purposes!

I can't see the tile-set at first glance - I'll have to have a rummage through the Wizards site.

Altars, statues etc. Props will follow!

Yay for props!

Speaking of cool products, have you seen the Collosal Red Dragon "Miniature"?
I've seen it in the gaming store i mentioned earlier, and it is truly collosal! The figure will dwarf anything on the gamin table if it is used, but unfortunatly, I can't afford it... yet

Yes, I think I can afford to make the grid more noticable, practice, practice ...
They're on their way! I thought I'd start with the easy stuff.
Goblins, goblins, goblins, and gnolls, and orcs, and foresty things, and nasty elves, and owl bears and dire wolves!
