its normally a wig made out of real human hair or more rarely a very ornate hair style that they use hot wax to set perfectly

This is a wonderful photograph. I happened to get some similar pictures while visiting Meiji Jingu some years ago. A wedding party was getting pictures taken and I took some photos myself. Nothing as nice as this though. Great work!

Meiji Jingu's our favorite Sunday trip. Specifically for the weddings. Plus, the proximity of Harajuku and Yoyogi Park, with all of the great people, bands and activity.
This shot happens to be this month's image on my calendar, which is just to the right of my monitor.

I do love this shot. I have a 16x20 framed in my office at work. Makes for an interesting conversation piece.

Thank you!
I have a 16x20 framed in my office. Really starts some interesting conversations. When I was framing it, a Japanese lady couldn't believe that the bride wasn't a family member or friend. She had a hard time grasping that this was a complete stranger that I was willing to photograph, print, frame and display.

I don't think it's so much that as that she couldn't believe that I was going through the effort and expense to have such a large print made when I had no idea who the subject was.

Sorry, I don't have any full body shots. The details are what interest me, not the full scene.
But the Japanese weddings outfits are absolutely beautiful, aren't they?

Then you must live here, especially if those are the things you'll want to see.
Although if you were able to spend a Sunday here in Tokyo on New Year's Day, then you'd have a chance to see all three.

So crisp! Do you shoot RAW or JPEG usually? And what was this?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
billsabub In reply to mboprey [2005-11-20 02:34:00 +0000 UTC]
Almost exclusively RAW, except for those events that I know the shots aren't that important, or I'll need to distribute them all as JPGs later on.
Defintely RAW, worked on in CS2, then downsampled before saving as JPG.

I was at Meiji Shrine for Shichi-Go-San with my camera; probably my favourite place in Tokyo for taking people shots when it's not so busy. I wonder if you got any shots of the kids? The boys trying to look all tough but embarrased at the same time in their kimono makes me smile.
Like the sharpness here. As always, fits well with a lot of things Japanese.

That whole area is my favorite place for people watching. Harajuku, Meiji and Yoyogi. Especially on Sunday afternoons. So many opportunities, so many options.
I did get some shots of the kids this year, but not as many as last year. The crowd was much thinner this year, not as many kids.
But the boys are fun. Here's one from last year, which I've got in storage, called Let's Get On With It .
