First time designing/drawing gijinkas for this show and I think it's... fine. I like how I did Gelatin, but I'm not sure for Book/Tennis Ball, and I definitely need to tweak Firey in the future.

In this attempt, I'm not exactly making them fully 'humanized', hence the hue shifts for the skin tones and the wire-limbs reflected in their dark fingertips. Also, small detail, but Tennis Ball's feet looking like hands is intentional, since armless characters in BFDI tend to use their hands as feet when they need to. I hope that isn't too morbid, haha. (Then again, the show is arguably pretty morbid already...)

I'm basing this sort of humanoid concept on Touhou, how some characters are supposed to be non-humanoid youkai interpreted as a humanoid form. Of course, plenty of inspiration from actual sentient-objects from that series, too; the tsukumogami.
This is also part of why Tennis Ball has a hagoromo scarf here. Thank Iku Nagae's design for that.

This isn't the only BFDI redraw I've been working on, by the way. There's one of Coiny and Pin, that I'm actually confident in my youkai-gijinka redesigns for, so stay tuned if you're interested.
