So cute! About how big is the piece? The design would make for a pretty rockin' belt buckle.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. I just don't want to break him. I <3 him too much.

You could turn this into the best pair of brass knuckles ever. All your foes could know what it's like to have an armadillo printed on their foreheads.

lol, I should. Only problem being the colour on this guy is actually glass.

And I do have armadillo ring, now. He's got sharp-ass ears.

It's good stuff.

By the way, if you're using wax, have you tried one of those pens they use for ukranian easter eggs? You can get some pretty fine lines with them.

So, so cute. I flippin' love etching, just need to work out how to do the resists with a bit less hassle...
Can't beat a 'dillo.

I have mixed feelings about etching. Mine screws up far to often. Have you ever tried PNP blue? It's a dream. It's this plasticy blue paper stuff that you photocopy images onto, and then you can iron the photocopied images on the PNP on to metal, and they work as a resist.

Also, if you use ferric chloride, sharpie works quite well. But only the really thick ink from a new sharpie. Old dry ones not so much.

I've been using salt+electricity (Mmmmm, charges) - for my leaves. I solder the wire on, dunk the whole thing in a candle then scratch it away, but if you get the wax too thick/cold/warm it comes off in chunks... I've not tried marker pen so much - it's such a git to cover the back of the piece! I really want to do some pieces with writing on though, so I'll give it another go some time soon. I've heard lots of nyomming about PNP blue, must try it one day when I have a sufficiently flat bit of copper, and a printer Good hints, ta!
