Although I originally developed this as a tool for a larger project I intend to do, the question has been around my head for quite a while. What is the real size difference between the Hetalia characters?

Let me explain my train of thought with a simple example
Lets say we have 2 squares, one 2 units tall (A) and the other 4 units tall (B). We can say B is twice the size of A, but that's only when we compare their heights.
If we were to compare the areas instead, A has 4 units and B has 16. In other words B is actually 4 times larger than A. And if they were cubes instead of squares B would be 8 times larger than A.

Considering the size of the countries measures the area, if we were to know the difference between their heights we would need to calculate their square roots to find how tall they are before comparing them.
And since the Hetalia characters are humans, and not just surfaces, that means their area is actually their volume, so we would have to work with cube roots instead.

So instead of calculating everything by hand, here's an application that visually shows you the height difference automatically. I've kept the "linear, area and volume comparisons just for the kicks

[EDIT 23/11/13]: More countries added >D

Its fascinating how poplular she is here.
She changes nothing on the innerside of germany.
Says that everything is just fine and theres no need for change.
People seems to like this. Maybe they fear changes and that why they vote for her.
But every other country has to change. Thats not fair.
She increases our depts and its historical high, now.
We have 2,136 Trillion Euro dept. Spain has 1,05 Trillion
Thats 26.800€ per person in germany and 22.000€ per person in spain.
How can everything be fine now? I dont know. I hate her.

Birvan In reply to TinyFeatherpants [2013-11-01 14:48:39 +0000 UTC]

Don't you meant debt?

She reminds me of our previous prime-minister JosΓ© SΓ³crates *or SΓ³-Cretino (=only cretin/asshole) as he was often called*Β

Smooth talker, all smiles and seemingly charming personality, but he was so stuck in his own Wonderland that instead of tackling the issue properly and avoid the worst of the economic crisis, his measures led to Portugal's economy to spiral out of control and finally fall in the IMF's hands DX

As for forcing others to change, it always sounds to me like an imperialistic attitude of trying to invade and conquer other countries, though this time through economy and politics

Not to mention it collides directly with drastically different social and cultural values, that they make no attempt to learn or even understand!

Don't worry, we hate her too. She and the IMF have tried to push changes that border or go clearly against our constitution and then claim we're the ones not following the rules

And many of the other stuff she says, to gain popularity and ruin our reputation (like claiming Portugal enjoys more vacation days than Germany, when the opposite is true), just shows a level of ignorance that doesn't win her any love or respect from our side

I also have a particular hatred when I read a story about a german woman, living in Germany, that lived in a poverty level equal or worse than what we're currently experiencing here. And of a type of contract that while tax except, it's being abused and definitely not helping the dignity and livelihood of those workersΒ

Something is definitely horribly wrong

Too sad. I wanna show you the most fitting election posters here. --->Β  parkgott-blog.de/wp-content/up…

I completely agree and I think that there went something very wrong with our last election.
None of my frinds voted for her, and none of the people I know.
Where came all the votes from???

By the tv debatte her (sorry) stupid necklace was more popular then the politics. ---> bilder.bild.de/fotos-skaliert/…

Im sorry. My english is not as good as yours. I had some problems understandding the last section of your post.
You mean that the payment is such bad that people need wellfare for only living a poor live?
If you mean that, then its true. There are people here having two or three jobs to pay their rent.

We take it one step furtherΒ 2.bp.blogspot.com/-es6xTNnwOe0…

There's one case when they tried to make mandatory for people to provide their Social Security Number for every single purchase they make. Very nice theory on paper to fight the parallel economy (aka black market), but in reality that meant even more costs on the retail side (many small companies closed thanks to it, including our local mini-market) and a Big Brother control on our movements

In retaliation people dug up and started using the Prime Minister's number instead of their own (or from deceased companies), thus proving a big loophole in the system. And also to try to get the Finances to review his sources of income and bite his ass (everyone knows politicians and many other rich people evade their taxes like crazy and don't pay one cent for it)

But the real irony is that instead of fighting the parallel market, it actually increased it exponentially, to the point they're so desperate for people to provide their numbers that they're having a cash prize lottery *facepalm*

I don't know how the "voting weather" works there, but here people Β just vote for the winning team. Mainly because we feel like our choices make little to no difference, since deep down the 2 main political parties always end up providing the same end result (there are other parties, but they're small and there's a lot of fowl play when it comes to the media giving them enough attention)

Your english is pretty good. You got the meaning correctly

I can't say I know people with multiple jobs... probably because they're scarce to begin with. But I know there are people that have to support entire families with 300-500 €/month

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TinyFeatherpants In reply to Birvan [2013-11-13 11:20:35 +0000 UTC]

Thats not much. I think it makes sense to vote for the small team. If only enough people would think like that it would work. It wokred one time with "Die GrΓΌnen" and it could work again.
We have the same problem here. A very good petshop was closed after its 40 years anniversary. It was at the shopping center since they opened it and the owner told me that they promised him more space for the shop.
Then they threw them out. Everone lost their jobs the animals went to the animal shelter. It ended up so quickly that they dont even had time to find a new location.
The reason was that the pet shop dont fit in the shopping center anymore. More space for another esprit or nike store. Hurray.

Im really sad that you dont come to germany. I read your post. I didnt know that you wanna come.
If it work someday. Maybe I could help you out if you want. ^^

Birvan In reply to TinyFeatherpants [2013-11-16 11:16:26 +0000 UTC]

Sadly with the way things are now I seriously doubt people will show an interest in becoming politically conscious. With all the big money going around and the blatant disrespect for the constitution, people feel powerless to impose any major change in the system. Add that to the still existing fascism mentality of "keep quiet to survive", and you can see the nest of thorns that is

That's a really crap reason to toss someone out D<

Here I don't think they can expel you that easily. I know some old shopping centers that are still active, despite the owners not wanting to because of the costs. Unless the shops fail to pay the rent they have no legal right to throw them out, so instead the owners refuse to perform the maintenance duties and other crap in order to get the shops to move out by themselves

All this so they can close the shopping center completely and sell it to someone else (most likely to build apartments, although there are tons vacant because they're so ridiculously expensive), not caring for the importance the small business has to the local communities X(

That one didn't work, but that doesn't mean I gave up. From what I could gather Germany is a great place for game companies, so I'm definitely interested to try again

The help would be greatly appreciated
